Default Kildare FF councillor resigns after financial irregularities discovered

A Kildare FF councillor who is close to party whip Sean O'Fearghail has resigned amidst the discovery of financial irregularities/unexplained payments at the voluntary housing association which he was the treasurer of.

Mr Dalton had been treasurer and director of the Cill Urnaí voluntary housing association in Co Kildare which owns and provides housing on a voluntary basis in the south of the county. The association owns 16 units and leases some 12 more.

In late September, the association’s bankers AIB contacted Mr Ó Fearghaíl, who is also a director of the association, to query a number of transactions and payments that had been made from the association’s bank account. This prompted an examination of the accounts and the irregularities were uncovered.

As a result, the association contacted the offices of the Director of Corporate Enforcement and the Garda Síochána, both of which have now initiated inquiries.

Dalton resigned as parliamentary assistant to the FF chief whip this month and is expected to resign from his CC seat.
He has resigned from Fianna Fail this month, so this really has nothing to do with FF.

Poor old Mr. Fearghail has stated that this has come as a terrible shock and a blow to FF in the area and himself, he was saddened by the turn of events.

Dalton has an "interesting" brother. Google is your friend.

I bet the other Sean and former junior minister will also be "saddened". Let the infighting begin.

Was the money just "resting" in his account?
