Mother finds adopted daughter after a 30-year search - Independent.ie
The Dail heard that the woman gave birth to a baby daughter in the Mother and Baby Home in Castlepollard in Westmeath in 1966 but never consented to giving her up for adoption. She was told by a priest and matron that her daughter had been adopted but never signed any papers.
Mr Kenny promised to arrange a meeting between Children’s Minister Frances Fitzgerald and the Adoption Alliance to deal with Ms Daly’s complaint that the records in this case were available and should have been used long before to re-unite the woman with her daughter.
…. All records relating to those in the home are held in the HSE’s Adoption Unit in St. Stephen's Hospital in Cork
