Default Viva Maduro! SF send their reps to back the most Hopeless Government in South America.

    Viva El Presidente Maduro!

Sinn Féin has defended its decision to send two party representatives to the inauguration of controversial Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
Mr Maduro is beginning another six-year term in office as the country is plagued by a crippling economic crisis and mass exodus.
Sinn Féin said that Conor Murphy MLA and Dawn Doyle, the party's general secretary, travelled to Venezuela to attend his inauguration.

I mean what planet are the Leadership of SF actually on?

Maduro presides over one of the most incompetent governments in the World.

He makes Mugabe's Regime look efficient.

Yet SF think he is doing a Great Job!

If this is the kind of Government they think worthy of support

    - then God alone knows what they would do if they ever got t run this place!

Do they have a clue what they are on about?
If you can convince a People to engage in the mass elimination of their own offspring - you can probably get them to do anything...http://irelandinhistory.blogspot.ie/

IMF are predicting inflation of 10 million percent there according to CNN a few days ago.

I have to laugh when SF says Maduro is democratically elected. If you count elections with the streets filled with thugs on mopeds shooting and beating people as democratic then yes.

Despite the regime's "socialism" mantra, in fact the poor have gotten a lot poorer under Chavez/Maduro. 10% of the population (equivalent to 4 million people) have emigrated since 1998. By 2013 when Chavez left office, 3 million were living in inadequate housing. Just 500,000 homes were built under Chavez, of which two thirds were built by the private sector. Venezuela has not reported unemployment figures since 2016. Hunger is also a problem. 5 percent of the population said they had lost an average of at least 8.7 kg (19.4 lb) in weight due to a lack of proper nutrition in 2016 and 64% said they lost 11 kg (24 lbs) in 2017. Where has all the oil money gone?

Embarrassing but entirely predictable. You are hardly surprised- this is the party whose leaders had a campaign photo of their leaders with the head buckos of Syriza. Nice to know SF's patronage of hopeless cases (and regimes) continues.

I think the major problem for SF is that they have pre-defined themselves as left wing socialists with strong stances on social issues. SF need to be an umbrella party for all Republicans, not just the liberal left wing ones. After unification, the party becomes pretty much redundant and its members will be free to chase whatever social cause they want.

It's not so much that they have 'pre-defined themselves', they just 'are'. There has never been a left-wing bandwagon they haven't jumped on, usually hijacking the driver's cab where possible.
