Today I was down protesting against Blair's book signing in Easons. Mrs Windsor is unfortunetly supposed to visit us next year. Both events will cost us quite a considerable sum of money in security etc. Still I wouldn't compare them to the unionist ' culture ' of " Ferrell youths sit around on old sofas drinking, lighting small fires, setting fire to rival bonfires and generally causing bother into the early hours of the morning."
Ferrell ? Wasn't she a terrorist ( Cherry Valley )

Plenty does not equal "1,352 incidents at bonfire sites between May and July" (from the OP)
Oh, so because 'we' have more of them then you can use it as a stick to beat Unionists with??? That's a strange way to work it......

What about the policing and security bill in NI every year? When are the Nationalists going to start paying their way for that?? After all, it's Nationalist terrorists responsible for the huge waste of public money spent on PSNI salaries, purchasing and maintaining Landrovers, fortifying police stations and army bases, etc, etc, etc.......

Get the wallet out!

So this really is none of your business so ?
Of course it is my business. It is after all on the island of Ireland. If the unionists choose to pay £3 or £4 million for their carry on then so be it.

What's your logic BC? There's a majority of Nationalists/Republicans in NI who, obviously, aspire to a United Ireland but not through violent means. Should they have to foot the bill?

Besides, security covers both communities, and a range of offenses, services, etc, so is not comparable to a one-off annual [whatever you want to call it] for one community.

Out the window with that suggestion.

I've already shown bonfires are common in catholic areas during August every year too.

Yet, the OP seems to want ONLY Unionists to pay for the costs of ALL bonfires.

The cost of policing and security is so high in NI because 99% of the political violence, recreational rioting and sectarian attacks these days are being carried out by NATIONALISTS.

Using the OP's logic it's time for NI's Irish community to get their wallets out...

It's a fair point though. How much money was lost because of the Troubles?
The cost of the Army, the RUC and paying all the compensation for bomb damage and having a very poor economy? So the fire brigade get called out a lot for bonfires? It hardly compares.

The amount of police patroling around Whitehall doubled or more after the IRA morter attack in 1991. Then the ''ring of steel'' around the City of London.
Thanks to the IRA, London is the most watched place on earth through CCTV.
Even the IED and the car bomb were brought to the world courtesy of the Provos.

Everytime i see the tricolour on a bonfire it makes me feel sad
It's not meant to offend our neighbours in the Republic.

It's just a way for Unionists to celebrate their comprehensive victory over the IRA in 1998.

Blame the Perversional Republican Movement for hijacking the flag.

Obviously finding 4.5 million Stg for the Irish language or diverse other nationalist causes wouldn't bother our unionist brethern. Right?

You could also factor into that the billions of pounds in British state benefits paid out to people who claimed oppression and fought against a state they didn't recognise.

What other country in the world would pay people unemployment benefits which allowed them to run about all day planting bombs and shooting at people???

How about getting some of that money back???

Well, some of them claimed they weren't british citizens. You're the one who insisted upon the fact that they were.

You're gonna reap just what you sow.

Why were thousands of them claiming British state benefits then?

Surely if they'd any pride at all they'd have went to Dublin with the begging bowl out instead of London???
