It's code for the carpet being raised and a sweeping brush hurriedly brought out. That said, I think the gardai should be let investigate it with as little intrusion from outside as possible. I don't really trust the details reported in the media. RTE went full on hysteria mode, with warnings to young children, but then didn't say very much. They won't know what happened exactly until all four have been interviewed by the gardai.
THE JOKE ORGANISATION WHICH IS RTE SHOULD JUST CONCENTRATE ON SPORT EVENTS.

How did they think they'd ever get away with this crime? If they didn't think so, that must mean they're insanely dangerous.

Not sure about that. Deep phychosis and extreme personality disorders. Think of them as a kind of sucicide bomber. It was an all out scorched earth event. Why it should be that way is the interesting aspect.
Oh I'm sure there are a multitude of reasons.

Nope.
Too much planning.
To much time between plot and execution.
Also (and this is for the shrinks) all that violent porn on Boy A's phone and website might have had an influence on his behaviour. Curious that they found nothing on Boy B's posessions, either in his home or in the derelict house. All they found was on the CCTV cameras and what came out of his own mouth in the interviews.
That makes me almost suspicious somehow. Is he the smart one?
Did me manage to get rid of downloads, forensics etc.
Well if they both do time till they are 18 ... and perhaps a few years after that, the truth will out... or whatever the govt want to tell us.
I'd be afraid of my life that the big fellow will want to throttle the little fellow.
But --- govt knows best! :)

Anyone know the backgrounds of the boys involved ?
I think you're on dangerous ground here. The govt and judiciary want to keep it all hush-hush.
Which is not easy in small town Ireland.
Apparently from some of what their lawyers say, they come from respectable middle-class backgrounds -- If they have houses in out in that part of Dublin that would support it. (What was the case with the two in the Bolger case?)
No previous difficulty with the law -- well at thirteen I'd hope not.
Boy A seems to have puberty behind him, boy B still a child.
That's all there is to be gleaned from the court case.

No chance of that. You have to realize that sport is old hat. What Irish kids are into now, what they're supposed to be into, apparently, is... drag queens, gender fluidity, make-up, dressing up, and all that. Or so it seems:

Teenage girls, drag queens and empowerment

Everybody should hear the interview there with Ireland's "youngest drag queen" Kevin Corr (14) and his Mam. Irish kids are not what you thought they were.

RTE shows you what Irish kids are really into:

Is it possible kids could be getting unhealthy ideas about sexuality?

Then this matter of the voodoo mask comes out and the church of satan stuff.
Connect the dots![ /b]

:ROFLMAO:
Are you seriously trying to suggest that as proof that they are not Irish? Do you think Irish kids don't have the same access to or interest in the sort of horror fiction which airs this sort of stuff?
Thank God you weren't the detective tasked with solving this murder, if you think that is somehow evidence that they are not Irish. The killers would still running free if you were in charge of the investigation.
Running my thoughts over the your above strident post. How would I put it...
I think my "apparent" xenophobia is best explained by experiences on my travels.
One time in Turkey -- before you were born, no doubt, I recall going into a Turkish restaurant to get a Doner. When I asked the price (in English0 -- well it didn't take a mathematical genius to see that he was overcharging me. And we haggled a bit and then agreed on a price. That's the way Turks do things. It's natural for them.
Fast forward a few years to Athens Greece. I was in a desparate situation to get a map of Athens. I needed it for professional reasons and time was short. So I ran around the streets and puffing and heaving came up to a kiosk and asked (in English) for a map. Of course the proprietor overcharged me. Well it's Athens, a tourist hotspot. But the difference between him and the Turk is that he knew that he was pulling a fast one. The Turks do there business from haggling and see nothing wrong with it.
Likewise if the proprietor of said kiosk hopping beds and cheating on his wife. He knows it's wrong. Compare that with the Muslim in Turkey... they consider it's quite all right to have multi;ple wives. That's what they believe.
Or the fundamentalist young men who wander the towns of Europe. They don't see anything wrong in molesting the Kaffir women, at the most it's a a breach of the legal code of the Kafir country. So don't get caught. Then it's all right.
Now ummmm this 14 year old girl who was beaten, tortured, raped and murdered by two individuals... We don't know their origins and if we did, it's against the regulations to publish same.
But the Gardaí have seen fit to publish some of the background reading that they had in their homes. Ecclesiastical liturgy it was NOT.
Eleven best methods of torture.
Rules for the Church of Satan.
1) Dont' reveal anything about it to anyone else
2) No mention of Jesus, only of Satan.

Now put this with the picture of a strangled naked child in a dark derelict house with semen traces of where someone (or two) disported themselves.
Connect the dots! And they believe it's all Kosher! A bit illegal but otherwise fine!
Even their parents did not urge them to come clean.
Connect the dots.

I very much doubt that unless you are nearly ninety years old.
Your problem is that you jump to all sorts of conclusions on the basis of God-knows-what.
