Listening to the 6/1 news this evening Fianna Fáil admitted they were still working on their policy response to the Crisis they created. They seemed to think that was some thing commendable.

Does it seem strange that they have not yet completed their policy platform to deal with a crisis that broke 5 years ago?

It is a good thing they are not in Government!

After all they told us many things that Kenny's Government have done could not be done! The Promissory not deal just being one of them.

No one said a "deal" could not be done on the PN's, not that what was done could be described as any sort of "deal" unless from the ECB perspective.

But FG/Lab are continiung the policies developed by FF before they left office i.e. NAMA, Bank Guarantee, etc, etc
The only FF policy reversed by FG/Lab was a minute detail relating to the minimm wage
Apart from that, we have FF under another name

Are you suggesting that depositors should not expect to get their deposits back?

The Banks deposit bases have been restored!

What do you propose be done with NAMA?

What do you mean by etc. etc.?

Some might say better late than never , others slow and steady wins the race. All I've seen was MM trying and failing not to smile at the turn around of votes. Mehaul , me thinks has the vision of him being Toaiseach in sight.

One might contend this is lucky for FG.

Especially given that they have done little to differentiate from the policies FF set in motion.

So carry on boys' copy, duplicate, replicate - continue to lack the courage it takes to make a real difference.

Is there anything one can say on this pointless thread that has not been said a million times before ?

The point is Fianna Fáil still do not ahve a completed policy platform to deal with the mess they created 5 years ago.

A good thing they are not in Government.

You do realise that this is an Irish forum - and not Cyprus...
Where are you based?

My suspicion is that this has been a better night for Micheal Martin than most people suspect.

IMHO, MM likes to move quietly, slowly, covering all bases.
If FF won in Meath East, he would have all sorts of insufferable hotheads talking nonsense.

What he has got is something different.
More solid rebuilding
Less spectacular
Other parties losing e.g. Labour

MM may prefer that.

Listening to Fianna Fail complaining about government policies is like listening to an arsonist complaining that the fire brigade are not putting out the fire quickly enough.

I agree with you here.
Michael Martin will want to keep FF members and elected representatives on their toes and a victory in Meath East might have distracted them from the heavy lifting that they still need to do to make FF more attractive to voters again.
Likewise for SF. The deflation among their members after this by election is easy to detect. But it will keep them sharp and focused on the job that they need to do in order to attract support.
