Isn't it odd that the self-declared "fastest growing party on the island" continues to bleed votes in Northern Ireland? That's SF in case you're confused.

Meanwhile the DUP's vote increased in this election.

No First Minister for you, Sinn Fein.

The numbers:

SF
2011 Assembly election 178,224
2015 UK general election 176,232
2016 Assembly election 166,785

DUP
2011 Assembly election 198,436
2015 UK general election 184,260
2016 Assembly election 202,567

It's actually joint first Minister, Arlene can't send a letter without Uncle Marty's say so.
How many times will the DUP get away with it, they'll be back working with SF in a few weeks.

The question that the more politically retarded members of the Laptop Loyal really need to ask themselves is what is the alternative to the present day Shinners on the CNR? Hint; its not the SDLP or the old Nationalist Party.

I saw him interviewed in the BBC NI election coverage just before they knew for sure (but he was pretty confident).
He said if he was elected he would refuse to wear a tie to debates etc.
Apparently they sit in what's known as the Naughty Corner. He's fitting right in already!

Is the fat bloke one of those republican reenactors?

Is that some replica of a historical uniform?

Oh look...the old "joint First Minister" lie again.

If Coco was ever FM there would be no Shinner talk of "joint First Minister".

There is no CNR grouping. Many Cs are not Ns or Rs.

I don't care if there is any alternative to SF or not. SF and the SDLP represent most nationalists.

I take it that McCann will play the outsider at Stormont.

The supposed rebel with a cause.

It's a joint office. The DUpes have bought it again. The DUP will be traveling the world again with the IRA commander in no time.

He's not in the PIRA any longer, or so he claims. Left it in the 70s so he claims.

He's a tamed Shinner these days. Representing Northern Ireland.

Wouldn't get too chirpy Viva ol bean. The Stormont setup could be 5 departments unionist with 2 nationalist. All depends on former Udp man Frank McCoubrey in West Belfast...:)

This election has produced a depressing result. Nobody I know thinks Stormont is much use and many think it isn't fit for purpose. (Does anyone here think it's any use?). Yet the same people have been elected again with only minor change in 2 or 3 places and that's to a party that wants to fight the cuts in a parliament entirely dependent on subsidies. 5 more years of this shît.

The DUP depending on the still active UDA votes again.
Nothing new, they'll be condemning them again when the election is over. ( Until July)

They are our bitches now - helping to run British rule. As you say they have been house-trained very well.
Over 10% drop in the nationalist vote in a potentially growing nationalist pool of voters tells its own story. The Assembly is a glorified county council with few real powers so none of this really matters these days. Westminster tells them how little they are going to spend and tells them to get on with it. They are all Westminster bitches. The idea of the DUP lording over nationalists is fantasy-land but no surprises that you are still creaming yourself in the belief. It is far more important to get a good education and a decent job, and local politics is for bumptious narcissists chasing shadows.
