For the local elections, most of the consituency is in the Ballymun/Finglas LEA. Some of the eastern side is in Whitehall/Artane, and the northern fringe is in Fingal Co Co (mainly Swords LEA), these areas are dealt with in other threads.

Ballymun/Finglas 6 seats.

Councillors standing:
Paul McCauliffe (FF)
Noeleen Reilly (IND - ex SF)
Andrew Montague (Lab)
Andrew Keegan (PBP)
Cathleen Carney Boud (SF)
Anthony Connaghan (SF)

And:
Mary Callaghan (SD)
Sean Tyrell (Fg)
Keith Connolly (FF)
Caroline Conroy (GP)
Rose Emmett (SF)
Linda Greene (IND)
Bernie Hughes (I4C)
Diarmuid MacDubhghlais (REP SF)
Martin Matthews (SF)
Lucy O'Connor (IND)
Cathie Shiels (WP)

Paul McCauliffe and Noeleen Reilly look to be safe. Hard to see FG not winning a seat given their polling levels in Dublin?
Sinn Fein running 4 may backfire?

Possibly may play out to be 1 FF, 1 IND, 1 FG, 2 SF, and 1 of PBP/LP/GP/SD

What happened to Cllr. Norma Sammon for FG, is she retiring?

Think she is a solicitor or barrister. In any case decided not to run. The fg candidate here ran as an independent here last time. Dont think he is a strong candidate and would doubt he will make it

She was co-opted when Noel Rock was elected to the Dail. Not sure she did that much when elected.
A pretty short sojurn in the DCC chamber for Norma. I'm surprised FG didn't get her to resign and co-opt someone else on given she wasn't running for election. Maybe she left it too late, maybe she didn't want to do it and get paid out in full - still very strange.

I wonder what Noel Rock has to say about it all.

Interesting results here with the surge to FF presumably from SF and a drubbing for FG. Why did SF even think of running 4 here. Even on their best day they would have no hope of winning 4 especially with the popular ex SF councillor also running. In fact McAuliffe outpolled the 4 SF candidates on his own and his running mate was easily elected. SD did well enough here which is good news for Shorthall but FF must have a chance of a Dail seat here either from Rock or even possibly Ellis. Feels strange to be even saying that but FF also did well in the neighbouring areas.

Even worse was the slogan "fighting for you" on the posters. They might as well have just put a photo of Noeleen Reilly up.
