This is a pretty tragic event. Oddly the truck seems to have entered the UK via Holyhead. Would this mean the truck went from Ireland to Wales.

Terrible way to die. Terrible that people resort to such desperate means to move country.

Thirty nine bodies have been found in a container in Thurrock in Essex, police said.
The group includes 38 adults and one young person aged in their teens.
The driver (25), from Northern Ireland, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

RIP and condolences to families and friends .

This is what happens when people think they can get away with illegal immigration . How can 39 people think they can get away with illegally entering Britain and just live their lives after getting here with no thought / worry that this will be found out . The British authorities are responsible for these deaths and similar deaths . The British authorities are a disgrace .

How is this the fault of the British authorities. We don't even have full facts. We do not know what desparation drove people to cross borders this way.

Because by and large, they can and do.

To be fair all countries are responsible for this by being weak on illegal immigration and making it seem like a gamble worth taking.

Horrendous, and saw that about Holyhead too. Sounds like it crossed from this country....

We have previously sent half our Navy to the med to shepherd illegal immigrants to safety in Europe - even my then liberal minded 15 year old was able to tell that it would end in disaster and it has, again and again.

Why, for not searching the lorry at holyhead? You know what this means, it came thru rosslare and dublin port. Probably the poor Bs (sorry, valued clients) were in the box since it left france.

Very obviously the driver needs to do a stretch of 20+ years.

A lot of questions to be answered . Could it have come directly to Holyhead from Bulgaria .

How horrible. Most probably suffocated to death.

The lorry came from Bulgaria. These people were probably trafficked over the Turkish border by a group like medicines san frontiers. Perhaps this is the tragedy that finally hammers home the point that illegal immigration shouldn't be encouraged.
You're wasting your time - virtue signaling causes a lot of collateral damage.

He's not blaming the British authorities, Emily. Or even the traffickers that are responsible. He's blaming the migrants themselves.

As sad & sickening as it is, he will be soon be joined by the other usual suspects who share this analysis & can barely conceal their joy at what they see as Karma.

He's already been joined by a few of them already.

Illegal immigration isn't 'encouraged' Einstein. If it was, it would be 'legal migration', wouldn't it.

As one of those "usual suspects" I have to wonder who YOU think is to blame.

Okay - illegal migrants have been given a false sense of hope and optimism and for that I blame Merkel and many other VS-ing political "leaders" across Europe, but I'd be surprised if any of those 39 had a gun to their heads as they boarder the container knowing they were about to enter the UK illegally.

On the other hand, if we welcomed all immigrants without any checks, another 39 would be trampled to death in the stampede.

I'll just let this sit there.

You should start a campaign to get the driver off of his murder charge. You can explain to the Police & CPS that it was the fault of the victims, lefties and & Angela Merkel.

It is encouraged by the fact that many of these people end up being handed houses and receiving benefits getting free medical care and having their children educated and then being allowed to bring in more family members.

If they were immediately deported when found, this would soon stop.
