Kerry North-West Limerick Labour T.D has called for legal action on the issue of bankers pay, Deputy Spring has said that he has written to Finance Minister Michael Noonan outlining a number of possible legal routes he could take. Deputy Spring also said that Minister Noonan should seek the resignation of Bank of Ireland Chief Richie Boucher after his performance before a Dail committee recently.

Its good to see someone in Labour speaking out against the obscene carry on in the Banks, is this a sign of things to come? Will more discontent be on the way from the Labour back benches in the next few weeks running up to the Budget?

His father was a director at AIB through out the property bubble. I wouldn't take young Arthur or anyone in the Labour Party too seriously. They all have their snouts in the trough.

Edit
*actually Dick Spring is his uncle but it's still the same dynasty that's been going on for 3 generations

Has he written to Uncle Dick? He might get a quicker response if he did.

You must be thinking of his Uncle Dick who only became a Director after the whole thing blew up. His dad is a doctor.

And the aptly named Dick was also on the board of Eircom after the privatisation. He did not even own one share but he was in their prospectus (pretending to) read the FT.

Is there something wrong with Kerry people that they foist Healy Raes/Springs on a bewildered nation?

Comical! were would this individual be if the Celtic tiger had not ended? more than likely a banking director. This type of individual is what is wrong with Ireland.

Labour will be gone after the next General Election just like the PDs and the Greens before them.

Wasn't there some quote from him after Eircom went pear shaped, about not buying shares at the flotation because he didn't have the money?

Jesus.

Uncle Dick signing off on €3 million retirement packages as a Director of AIB.

Arthur, formerly of Anglo Irish, NOW claiming concern about bankers pay.

You can only laugh at the Springs really. The most transparent publicity attempt, claiming concern about bankers pay, will surely fool no one.

I don't care who or what he is. The more people who speak out against bankers' obscene pay + pension the better.
In any other democracy these people who were in charge of the banks when they ruined the country would be sacked with no pensions.
And why are the salaries in IRBC( a bank that belongs to all the Irish people) so excessive...

while I do despair at silly money been earned by bankers who by all accounts sit around most off the day twiddling their thumbs, I would rather see TD's and wannabe TD's look at silly money been payed to members off the civil service as a whole. some off who do less than twiddle their thumbs.

I can't believe dick spring is his uncle. What a banana republic we live in.
How many entities named "spring" can you think of.

Most are dogs, mainly greyhounds.

Speaking of which, didn't one of Dick Spring's ministerial car-crashes involve a greyhound? Dick has a bad back, apparently, resulting from several car-crashes.
