A New History on the Korean Peninsula

"A new history begins now - at the starting point of history and the era of peace."

- Kim Jong-un.

In an unprecedented move, the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, has traveled into South Korea to discuss the peninsula's future with his counterpart, Moon Jae-in. This is the first time a leader from the People's Republic of Korea has ventured south.

The agenda for the summit will focus on the North's nuclear quest and on formally bringing an end to the Korean War. However, some are speculating that things are coming to a head in the North and that they have finally reached the point where philosophical change might be needed. There's also the North's fear that the US might be inclined to make South Korea an island.

So, what do ye think? Will some good come of this summit? Can Kim be trusted? Will China and the US acquiesce? Does this mean that we will see SeosamhN back in this parish? Will there indeed be a "new history"?

The Trump-Macron affect. Its okay for straight men to hold hands now.

Question is it is actually the Macron effect then, as I don't recall Trump doing this with a man before meeting him.

Reports of the damage to their nuclear testing site being extensive, if true, may have played a part. I think it is a smart move, no doubt urged on by China, for the north to come to terms with the south, in the face of aggressiveness (as they perceive it) from Trump.

Well done President Trump. Whilst Obama spent his time doing the chat show rounds Trump from day one wanted to solve this very serious issue and now it is clear that is in full progress. Even CNN in giving him credit and rightly so.

Peace, love and conciliation? Aye right.
Iran next - that will efffectively nullify 90% of Middle Eastern conflict. Macron want's to be on board for that transformation for his own legacy. He knows who to put his money on. The tide is turning. The world's getting safer. Sometimes when faced with crass ignorant bullies you need an even crasser more ignorant bully. Call that a knife. THIS is a knife.

The lesson for small countries under threat from the USA is to get a nuclear deterrent as quickly as possible.

The preparations for war against Iran would not be happening if Iran had gone ahead and developed a nuclear weapon. It foolishly trusted that a US deal would last longer than the next presidential election and now the US is mobilising Israel, Saudi Arabia and Jordan for war.

The pretext is being prepared and we will likely see some theatrical performance in Syria in the coming days.

As if Iran's enemies in the middle east needed an excuse. Such conflicts have been going long before America was discovered, nevermind the US.

So you're an avid supporter if Iran's theofascist junta, it's brutalisation of it's own people, it's financial and cultural suport for barbaric terrorism, it's relentless investment in Middle East instability and conflict and it's aim to have nuclear missiles. Good to know where others poster are comng from.

Sure Iran has a crap govt. In your view that justifies an invasion?

Good to know where other posters are coming from.

BTW Saudi Arabia & Pakistan have crap governments too. Also Burma/Myanmar, N Korea, most of the 'stans. Russia might qualify.

Cheerleading for invasions of those countries too?

Idjit.
