Does not the State like to keep up the pretense that is though?
In Bob Doyle's case the determining factor was the individual and not the State, although an extension of the Irish State, fought on the opposing side in Spain. The manner with which the EU have peddled the concept of a European Army on the back of Brexit was stomach churning, but that is the future, as things stand. The only form of military operations we should support post-Independence are UN Peace-keeping missions, as a separate but equal Sovereign entity.

We were.

You don't know what you're talking about.

But that explains why you're desperate. Would you not ask the wife for a hug or something. Go hug a hedgehog.
We have an agreement with the UK that if a military air craft of a 3rd party enters our air space the RAF scramble their fighters and they enter our airspace. We have a similar deal with the Royal Navy. A true neutral country would invest in defence instead of relying on a NATO member. We are not neutral nor should we be.

Brutal dictator lectures us on terrorism. Ho hum.
I would take Democratic Socialist Republicanism over Communism, 10 times out of 10, but at the same time, he wasn't much worse than most of his adversaries, and in fairness, he didn't resort to the type of 'terrorism' we became accustomed to on these islands. LOL.

You're a moron. You're talking about the present while arguing a bout the past. Hardly surprising.

Given how NATO carried out no warning bombings against civilian targets in the Republic of Ireland in the 1970s maybe it would be better for the ROI to invest in it's own defence, do you not think?

You must live in a parallel universe: We've more armies than we have citizens in this country. I support neutrality. Indeed, I'm the pacifist. However, ultimately, and in the final analysis, we are slabs of meat that can be bought and sold by the military complex.
The world is full of compeating tribes, always was and always will be,
Pacifism is only possible thanks to the men who guard your wall.

How do you know?
It's something the pols keep hidden and keep denying we are becoming part of any alliance, yet they keep moving us in that direction.

If FG believe we should provide human sandbags for the yanks, let them advocate it openly, have a referendum and let's have all their dirty laundry out in the open.

Do you but Raytex wholesale?
I am surprised that even you have not heard of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings. Maybe you should look into them.

Maybe a day will come when the yanks tell us they will no longer protect us for free with their blood and treasure.

Agrred but we should be able to protect our own walls not keen on the idea of a European army but keen on appropriate tech self defence.
