A protest is getting underway in Kerry over the processes used to house asylum seekers.

A former guesthouse in the town will be used to accommodate 55 asylum seekers.

Councillor Donal Grady, who is organising the protest said there are many people homeless across the county, and the government needs to ’look after their own first’

Fair play to the Man!

Cant say I have seen any other coverage but hopefully its the start of something bigger and a People's Revolt will gather pace against the Irish been (once again) been sent to the back of the Q in their own Country....:|

Perhaps some of our Kerry Team can fill us in on this 1?

no doubt the only geezer here who still sports the Labour Party avatar ? - little Johnny365 from Tralee, will be happy with this.

"Councillor Donal Grady, who is organising the protest said there are many people homeless across the county, and the government needs to ’look after their own first’

no doubt this Councillor Grady has long been a champion of the oppressed & the homeless ?
but the geezer should also know -
that although Charity begins at home,
it doesn't end there.

Why should foreigners not just get on the housing list but be placed at straight at the top ahead of Irish people on the list for years? It's disgusting, while Irish people are homeless dying on the streets. You have more chance getting housed if you are not Irish.

Are ye taking the p!ss?

From the second line in the article : A former guesthouse in the town will be used to accommodate 55 asylum seekers.

THIS is how you want to fix the Kerry housing list....find some disused guesthouses and shove a few dozen people into each.

No-one on a housing list would accept this as a solution, yet even that is too good for asylum seekers.
I'm sure there are vote in it for this councillor alright.

Hes right you know. its a zero sum game. Irish people have lost houses because they have been bumped down the list.
I even know a couple from Eastern Europe with triplets who were bumped so far down the list they will never get off it - and a bunch of asylum seekers were placed ahead of them. Its not a case of irrationally blaming immigrants. They lost their house directly because of this .
Houses are a scarce limited number. All resources are scarce and limited. Only a total balloon of a Trotskyite would believe otherwise.

Asylum seekers should be returned to their home countries when the war is over in order to rebuild it .

This country is not being run for the benefit of its people. All those fake asylum seekers were allowed in because Merkel turned the screws and our gutless government capitulated.

The last time he claimed there was 4,000 people in Kerry on the housing waiting list. The only other issues that sprung up on Google about him is an attempt to swindle £20,000 from a developer, a rant about travelers, and a statue. In other words, his interest in the homeless amounts to a blank page, and he's scapegoating the weakest members of society, because he has no other proposals about the housing crisis. He's another Seamas Treanor.

Unless people have friends or family who died on the streets, they have no right to be using the homeless to jump on the band-wagon. And that is directed at Matty as well.

So borderline corrupt no mark rural councillor has a cut at refugees and the mongos on here cheer him on. Depressingly predictable

Why do you have to have someone die in order to call out injustice?

A lack of consultation with whom precisely? Is he suggesting that anybody who proposes to move to Kerry should be vetted or just the people who'll be moving into this former guesthouse?

"look after your own" is that greatest heap of shyte.

As JC said "Who is my neighbour?".

Cattlepress gets carried away over the slightest thing - yesterday is the Mighty Colossus of Bermuda rejecting gay marriage, today a Labour councillor is leading a protest. Great things are happening in the world. Not sure if my heart can stand up to the excitement.
