Sit back and enjoy a Russian perspective of Irish history and the impact of Brexit.

It's interesting to see how foreign media outlets portray our current Brexit situation and our recent history. This angle is quite often accurate yet excludes some important aspects :)

Has anyone come across other foreign media accounts of Ireland and Brexit?

Should be shown in Irish schools. Nice succinct history there.

While Kiselyev is someone I would normally consider a propagandist, he makes some good points there, though I don't agree the vote to leave the EU by the UK was "a vote to destroy it".

Yep, so ye's didn't get independence until 1948, who'd thunk it...

The Russians are finished.

It's more important to know what China thinks.

The Russians never really started.

As for the Chinese, you must be joking.

That was interesting. To see ourselves as others see us.
It is interesting.

The Russian left out the Unionist perspective.

The reporter got the bit about the EU having very strict external border controls badly wrong!
A few inaccuracies and too many attempted tie in's to Russian history, but overall not a bad summary for a foreign audience. Obvious anti- brit angle but to be expected in that part of the world

There are boarder controls, what do you mean exactly?

True.

It would be odd for an organisation to have within its rules a provision for any member to leave, if any member leaving meant that the EU was destroyed as a result.

This is just one of those hysterical things that pro-EU people trot out. Why would the framers of the EU have built in a provision that any member could leave if they honestly believed that any member leaving would spell the end of the whole EU?

I see tens of thousands, some years close to a million, of illegal migrants walking or being ferried on their way into europe without a visa between them. Hardly strict border controls
