A Solstice of the Long Knives in Belfast

Monday is typically a quiet night but not so this year's shortest night in Belfast, which saw:

- Racist attacks on immigrant families in Whiteabbey
- Renewed racist and sectarian attacks on homes in the Donegall Road area of south Belfast
- The second sectarian bomb attack on the home of north Belfast community worker Mary Kelly in recent weeks

Coincidence - or a co-ordinated display of loyalist 'muscle' ahead of this year's Twelfth celebrations?

First story racist attacks - probably by loyalists
Second story a largely sectarian attack in a loyalist area in which you have left the context out of.
Third attack has no side attached to it yet.

I've reported your post as it will invariably lead to whataboutery.

So much for the new modding

Why let 'scale' get in the way of pointless rhetoric...

Your headline has echoes of Kristallnacht. Maybe not a bad analogy even if the scale is very different. Kristallnacht - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eight different sets of people were attacked in their homes, some on the grounds of race, others on the grounds of religion. It is a very ugly turn of events and one which should be neither exaggerated nor diminished.

BTW you have confused Kristallnacht with Night of the Long Knives.

Unlike other posts which sought to blame 'unionists' or 'nationalists' in general I have been careful not to do not that. Your immature 'knee-jerk' reaction to my post suggests you are in denial about loyalism's dark underbelly.

The attack in north Belfast was the third on the same house - one a hammer attack, one a pipe-bomb - in recent months and like the previous two - for which claims of responsibility were made - was carried out by loyalists, who on all three occasions escaped towards the Shore Road.

The implication was laid by yourself. Others will pick it up and run with it

The implication was clear and intended. Incidents like these should not be swept under the carpet. Real people, ordinary people are being terrorised in their own homes.

You are now engaging in puerile whataboutery - or trolling as it is otherwise known.
You still havn't raised the context of the Village attacks

What ever happened to those caught for the alleged 'racist' attacks on Roma last year in Belfast?

Looks like nothing ever came from it after all

- how come no one was ever charged?
I believe a couple of people were charged but haven't heard the outcome of the courtcases.

IMO police could have and should have reacted quicker to the series of attacks in the Donegall Road when five houses were attacked / invaded by a gang of thugs in brioad daylight. In one incident they threw a TV set through the window of a house on the main road. This occurred in broad daylight. And yet the gang were subsequently able to attack another house in the same area. Clearly they had no fear of being caught.

Is this something to with foreigners and RCs moving in? Or some other 'excuse' for a series of cowardly attacks on people in their own homes?

Go for it TB. Cover yourself in glory!

Two of the houses in the village attacks had anti drugs slogans painted on the walls, one was the Catholic girl and one was a Polish guy.

To set the context that you failed to highlight...

A group of men recently went into the area and removed flags from the largely Loyalist area and took material from the bonfire at the end of the street in which two of the attacks took place.

It doesnt justify the attacks but it does place them in context
