I've just heard that Scotland and Spurs legend Alan Gilzean has died aged 79 of a brain tumour. The King of White Hart Lane provided more goals for Jimmy Greaves than I've had hot dinners and was the greatest header of a ball you'll ever see.

Those flicked headers which were his trademark were almost impossible to defend against. They don't make players like him anymore!

RIP!
I always have had an affection for Spurs as well!
However, another renowned header of a football, dying from a brain issue!

Alan Shearer did a TV programme exploring whether years of heading caused dementia in retired footballers, the programme didn't reach any definitive conclusions and some of the footballers didn't seem that bothered by their condition, saying they wouldn't change a thing, perhaps the research should extend to brain tumours, was Gilzean's tumour caused by heading too many heavy soggy leather balls of a type no longer used but older fans will well remember. RIP Mr Gilzean
