The Daily Telegraph is reporting that Alex Ferguson could be about to announce his retirement as Manchester United manager before Sunday's home match against Swansea. With United listed on the NYSE, any announcements pivotal to the club's future has to be made in public.

I have it on good authority that he's going to replace Trap,

Apparently he's very impressed with the professionalism of Delaney and the FAI,

Alex Ferguson may retire this week

The rumour mill is in full force this evening that Alex Ferguson may announce his retirement before the end of this week. It will certainly be an historic moment for Man Utd fan's everywhere as they wave goodbye to Britain's most successful manager.

I'll believe it when I see him getting the gold watch.

Moyes may be moving to OT not as assistant but as manager.

On RTE this evening it featured Benitez and I commented to my wife on the longevity of AF compared to Benitez, Mourinho, etc.

I'm not a soccer fan but I know enough about the game to recognise what a great manager AF is.

Why do so many Irish people, who have never lived in England, support Man U, or any other English team?

That said Ferguson is an outstanding manager (technically and man manager), will he get a peerage and become a Labour peer?

The Torygraph are the only ones running with this at the moment.

They either knw something everyone else doesn't or they're just publishing rumour.

Dave Whelan predicted last year that Fergie would go.

In essence, it’s because they’re morons.
