Online retailer Amazon have been selling "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure". So far it has made at least 513 comments and has got a very negative reaction from child safety groups. Amazon says it not in favour of censorship.

I think Amazon has gone too far.

They seem to have removed it. While a search throws up a result for the book, when you click on it you get an error message. Seems like they have backed down from their defense of free speech.

The IT report is a syndicated story from Bloomberg News Service so the book is probably blocked everywhere since the glare of publicity is everywhere.

I am all for Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Expression, but this crosses the line. Advising people how to abuse children? Child Abuse is the reason for the majority of our social ills. It is the biggest causal factor in the development of anti social behaviour in people.

I am disgusted with Amazon for selling this vile publication. I hope they are boycotted on mass.

These creeps are everywhere.

Didn't the Green Party in Germany not try to decriminalise "non-violent" paedophile activity between adults and children?

Only in the same way that FG was a fascist party.

That is, only in the minds of people who are are eager to take the ideas of a few extreme loons in fringe groups and suggest that it represents the core philosophy of a far wider group, simply because they have an irrational dislike of the wider group.

It is shocking that Amazon didn't have better QC control policy, but the firm has been royally caught out on this score. IMO, it's not about an unwillingness to engage in any censorship - if it was, then the company would be selling porn but it doesn't stock such materials, so there is some censorship which probably focuses on offensive images rather than texts. As Amazon has a good reputation for service, I do hope the company removes this book and anything else of similar ilk that promotes child abuse ASAP.

Wow, what cutting and original wit. You must be proud, it's not every day you get to take a boringly obvious cheap shot at a group of random people for no particular reason. Well done you.

No, by a former nurse's aide;

Greaves, a former nurse's aide from Pueblo, Colo., told the local Channel 9 TV station there that he wrote the book to change people's perception of pedophiles. "Every time you see them on television, they're either murderers, rapists or kidnappers, and, you know, that's just not an accurate presentation of that particular sexuality," he said.

"True pedophiles love children and would never hurt them," Greaves told CNN.

He said he considers his book a how-to guide for pedophiles to indulge their fantasy while abiding by U.S. laws. "I wrote the book to establish guidelines so that people would behave in a manner that is non-injurious to each other," he told ABC News.

"Penetration is out. You can't do that with a child, but kissing and fondling I don't think is that big of a problem," Greaves told CNN.
While it's comforting that he doesn't advocate penetration he is still one sick, evil bastard.

Irish Daily Mail: Pedophilia and the dark heart of the EU’s parliament

Mr Ganley produced a book [Daniel] Cohn-Bendit [an MEP for the German Green Party] wrote in 1975. He read out Mr Cohn-Bendit's account of how he had worked in a kindergarten and allowed the children to pull down the zip on his trousers and touch him intimately. In the book he had asked them why they wanted to play with him and not with each other, but in the end he 'caressed', his word- them too.

Mr Cohn-Bendit disputed none of it. Indeed when Mr Ganley finished reading, the former kindergarten teacher whooped that he had just won €500 because he had bet someone that Mr Ganley would read out that bit of his auto-biography. When Mr Cohn-Bendit’s supporters in the room did not give him quite give the sound of applause he seemed to be looking for with that reply, he changed tack and insisted that everything in the book had been discussed in Germany and France years ago and the parents of the children had never raised any concerns. Mr Ganley asked: ‘And the children, what did they say?’ Dany the Red assured him and the audience that years later the children had all said their time at the school was extremely happy. And then he went on about how attitudes were different in the 1970s.

Hmmm...obviously you have difficulty telling the difference between a question and a cheap shot.

This is a question: Are you an idiot?
This is a cheap shot: Only an idiot would think my question was a cheap shot.
