German Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative Christian Democrats fell to third place in a state election on Sunday behind the center-left Social Democrats (SPD) and anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, TV exit polls showed.
In a stinging defeat for Merkel one year ahead of parliamentary elections, the upstart AfD won 21 percent of the vote in their first election in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state by campaigning hard against the chancellor's policies on refugees, according to an exit poll by the ARD TV network.

Good. The CDU-SPD coalitions nationally and at state level have frustrated many voters and confirmed that the system is rigged against ordinary people.

The numbers are clearly there (in polls) for a Centre Right govt after the next election but the CDU and FDP have refused to work with the AFD. This was also their position in the last election before the anti immigration faction had taken control and it was just a Eurosceptic party.

No big deal-they will just ban AfD and start throwing people in jail. Criminalizing dissent is part of German and European culture and would no doubt be welcomed by the unelected bullies in Brussels.

Next few years will be make or break for Europe.
Hopefully the FN in France and AFD will become a serious force. Otherwise the Continent is doomed.

On German TV they said that 28% of the working class voted AfD.
Another 28% of the working class voted SPD.

So the AfD gets the same amount of votes from the working class as the traditional working class party SPD.

In Austria it was even more clear. At the Austrian President election a vast majority of the working class voted for FPÖ candidate Hofer.

It's a real struggle when the open-border globalists can just import a million voters en masse in one year.

I'd love to see what the election results in Sweden look like if only native Swede votes counted.

An excellent result. Ever since Brexit the Liberals have been on the run. All we need now is a Trump victory. With Putin in the East and Trump in the West and the Nationalist parties on the rise in Europe, we will return to a state of order and heath.

That isnt as simple as it sounds. It hasnt happened since 1956. The govt tried to ban the NPD but the Constitutional Court case fell apart because the govt were caught out using infiltrators/provocateurs. Sigmar Gabriel suggested banning the AFD but I dont think Merkel is on board with it yet. Its probably too popular to ban at this stage but you never know. Only the Constitutional Court has the power to ban a party, but the govt has to make a case that a party is trying to overthrow democracy.

So the people are not allowed to vote to end democracy? Not very democratic, is it.

I wonder how long it'll be before legislation is implemented to prevent anyone saying anything negative about Islam or migrants online or in the real world. I don't see Merkel bending over and letting the AFD go in dry.petunia

Merkell allowed 1,100,000 Muslims into Germany (their family members may come later). I guess her message that this is a good thing was hard for German voters to understand , especially given the mass sex attacks on NYE which the authorities tried to cover up.

Bit of a stretch of the imagination to claim that Europe will be engulfed by catastrophe unless a collection of racists, liars, snobs, crooks, fantasists, thugs, snake-oil sellers and chancers are voted into office. How would they be any better than the collection of liars, snobs, crooks, fantasists, snake-oil sellers and chancers we know?

Quite right of course but laws are just words and freedom of speech is less important now that it cannot be used for Cold War purposes. In the end judges only rarely say no to the political establishment, especially in semi free Europe.
