From the Gardai...

Arrest of one male re financial irregularities 18th March 2010

As part of the ongoing investigation by Gardai from the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation into alleged financial irregularities at a Financial Institution, a search was carried out this morning the 18th March 2010 and a male in his early 60s has been arrested. He is being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended at Bray Garda Station.

Good timing considering Anglo are about to report the biggest financial losses ever recorded in this state.

that alone probably means hes a well known individual.

bit of mixed reporting going on about this issue. newstalk broke it first , stating the blokes from the northside of the city and alluding to working for anglo.

while RTE.IE have stated he's being held by wiclow gardai which would seem to indicate he's from that area of the country.

all agree he's a banker though and in his 60s.

fun times ahead now :) (hopefully)

was listening to newstalk breakfast show and conor brophy had a great little figure in connection to that.

14billion is the same amout spent on ALL the infrastructure development in the state since 1996

helps put things in perspective when dealing in all these noughts.

'Arrested' isn't the same as 'charged'.

So the scapegoat has been decided upon. The toxic banker. Move all the blame on to one toxic banker, the bad banker. There is a long list of people that should be arrested and they are not all bankers. Some elected representatives need to be arrested too. There's no sign oif that.
It's a start but don't get too excited.

For *#!*'s sake don't just start naming the only name you know connected to Anglo. There's no reason to do it. We don't know who it was, the name will break soon. Why expose the site like that? I can't believe the level of stupidity on the part of some here.
