You are aware of the difference between civil unrest and some gobshyte losing the plot and shooting the place up? That's right, of course you are...
Enniskillen was not civil unrest. It was terrorism.

It was part of a thirty five year long period of civil unrest. feel free to dispute this. Or perhaps it was a war. Whatever, point is the poster is making a false equivalence. Now run off back to your right wing loyalist masturbatory fantasies, please.

Humans with weapons killing civilians is absolutely a legitimate argument.

Are you saying that there are background checks mandatory in every state which check for mental health problems?
Correct. It's a federal mandate. All 50 states. They check for records of mental health history.

If you kill civilians at a remembrance service, that is terrorism.

If you kill soldiers in active service, or, at a stretch, the bigoted, militarized RUC, Then, that could be considered an act of war.

Civil unrest is throwing bricks at riot police and kicking in shop windows. Eniskillen was a touch more than that. What with all the dead and maimed.....

Your patriots in 1987 had more in common with Dylan Roof than Padraig Pearse.

You are clueless. Here's some free education for you. It's wiki, so not too difficult. You should be able to manage it at a stretch.

Of course, if you insist on dragging your masturbatory loyalist fantasies into to it, you may struggle somewhat.

Now back on topic, do you agree or disagree that PC principle was making a false equivalence?

So was Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen.

Why do you feel no emotion over all those millions murdered for the sake of the US/European arms industry?
They are also disgusting conflicts which as you point out, only profit the arms industry.

Wrong again. Telling such blatant lies doesn't help your case.

NICS is a criminal background check, introduced via the Brady act (Ronald Reagan's press secretary who was shot during assassination attempt on Reagan).

You walk into a gunshop with I.D., the dealer calls FBI, they check if you have a felony conviction, if not, you get your gun.

On top of that, someone can go in and buy a gun, then legally sell it outside the door to anyone the want to, even a convicted felon.

I agree that PC is utterly wrong.

And I lived through the troubles and remember Enniskillen. Civil unrest has limits. The methods used in Eniskillen far outstrip "civil unrest". The IRA were a brutally sophisticated paramilitary organisation. And they attracted a fair few psychopaths. Pearse McAuley was not a total outlier.

And, they killed people they despised who were at prayer. Just like Dylan.

Dragging up the Troubles at every mention of a school shooting in the US is nonsense.

Give it up.

I also lived through the troubles, and psychopathy was not limited to the IRA. As well you know. And there is no equivalence to Dylan, whatsoever. Darkley possibly, but again that is limited to sectarianism, rather than having ready access to guns where any nutter with a grievance can cause widespread damage. Now, jog on.

It was PC who brought it up. Supposedly trying to conflate the USA's acceptance of mass shootings with the Troubles.

The UK and Irish govt and people never accepted the deaths in the troubles as "a price for our freedoms" like 2nd amendment nuts in the US do.

So his comment was utterly wrong. Hollandia and I just have different views on what the troubles were and how they should be described.

A minor derailment of a thread. Apologies.

Now back to gun control .....
