A number of Israel's allies, including the US, UK and France have or are passing laws in an attempt to suppress BDS. This thread is to keep track of it. The latest is the Anti Boycott Act, which would fine companies refusing to trade with illegal settlements.

...On March 23, Sens. Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Rob Portman (R-OH), and Reps. Peter Roskam (R-IL) and Juan Vargas (D-CA), introduced the Israel Anti-Boycott Act (S.720 and H.R.1697).

This bill seeks to impose fines and deny government loans to corporations refusing to do business with corporations in illegal Israeli settlements. And it infringes on our First Amendment right to promote boycott, divestment and sanctions and seeks to legitimize Israel’s settlements......
Important to pressure political representatives to stop the crackdown on BDS and the attempt to deny freedom of expression and self determination to the Palestinians.

Bank of Ireland recently closed IPSC accounts, in a disturbing sign of repression of the BDS movement.

Doesn't apply in Europe. The EU has stated all settlement produce must be labelled as such.

A wonderful thread.

This thread shows that the BDSMers are alarmed.

Hopefully we'll see more good news, and the trial of Omar Barghuthi (the flea).
BDS has failed. Israeli economy is up this year and last. It has had no impact.

It's not a question of success or failure (though it's part of it), but a question of purpose - their raison d'etre is to destroy Israel (and they can shout all they long that it's only beacuse of d'okyupeishen).

Thankfully, the Israeli gov. has just paved the way to banning their entrance here, but those who are inside should be coped with too.

If true, there would be no need for these repressive laws.

So why the campaign to have it criminalised?
Because people see the BDS campaign for what it is namely a nasty anti-Semitic campaign pretending to be interested in the human rights of Palestinians. If you really care about the Palestinians then protest against Hamas and their corrupt rulers who are driving them into the ground. Instead they blame Israel. The attempted boycott of Soda stream is a case in point of their warped thinking. Remind me again about Barghouti and where he got his education?

The purpose of BDS is to force Israel to the negotiating table and to end the Occupation and settlements. When these demands have been met, BDS will cease.

Meanwhile Israel has cut approvals for Gazans to travel abroad for cancer to 42%, down from 78% in 2009. There are persistant reports Israel has used depleted uranium in Gaza.

Israel withdrew from Gaza and forcibly removed the settlers, and what did hamas do? Build schools, hospitals and houses, no they built rocket launchers, so why should Israel withdraw from the west bank?

The casualties caused by Hamas are negligible and have been since the Iron Dome was introduced. Even when Hamas was actually killing people the death toll was far lower than killed in NI by the IRA, yet the UK did not resort (post-partition) to settlements, flattening towns or air strikes (despite shootings like Bloody Sunday). Again Israel needs to learn the lessons of the NI Peace Process.

Maybe hamas need to stop firing rockets at Israel , Perhaps that's the lesson that needs to be learned

A lot of us would fire rockets if a foreign army was demolishing our homes.

But Israel left, and hamas could have tried to improve the lot of the inhabitants of Gaza, but that's kind of hard , much easier to blame Israel and fire rockets at them.

But Israel then ramped up house demolitions in the West Bank and continues to do so.
