Great singer with a fantastic voice much like his fellow comrade, Paul Robeson.

Other Western artists toured the Eastern Bloc well before 1989. Iron Maiden went to Poland in 1981 and regularly after that. Queen in Hungary in 1986 and Carlos Santana was a regular in Cuba in 1970s.

Eastern artists came to the West too. Laibach and White Button from Yugoslavia and Jan Hammer, best known for the Miami Vice theme from Czechoslovakia.

He did a great version of Bella Ciao, the Italian partisan song.

Give him time. He is actually very and seriously busy with the great music of Ludwig Van Beethoven.

Nevertheless the whole world will be looking to Graceland next week for the 35th Anniversary commemorations of Elvis's death.

An Irish 'Elvis'will be at the Olympia theatre in Dublin. Oh deary me.
