Wouldn't surprise me at all what the AGS would be up to seeing as there is quite obviously little to no oversight over that particular state agency.

The so-called Policing Authority in the capers around O'Sullivan was reduced to making the occasional moo-ing noise from the sidelines after largely being an observer and being fed horse-shyte if any information at all by O'Sullivan.

The attitude of two former Commissioners and one current Acting Commissioner towards Oireachtas Justice Committees remains largely contemptuous.

Why would anyone expect any kind of control within this largely broken police service when it comes to boundaries?

I think its you who should check their facts , Former Gardai commissioner Noirin O'Sullivan's Golden handshake pension will cost the taxpayer an extra 500,000 , the decision by Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe to include her time as acting commissioner when calculating the figure will see her net around 15,000 more every year , she will be paid 90,000 a year over the 30 year pension , plus a lump sum of 270,000 , giving her a combined package worth almost 3 million , the department of public expenditure quickly confirmed her payout which will see her receive a lifetime pension for serving as commissioner , without having officially held the office for long enough to do so , Gardai pensions are based on a members salary for the best three years of their tenure , O'Sullivan was appointed as commissioner in November 2014 meaning she held the post for 2 years and 10 months , but the terms approved by Mr Donohoe means she will receive the top pension , officials decided her 8 months as acting commissioner will also count towards her pension pot , this decision will bring her over the 3 year mark , and means her pension is calculated on her commissioners salary of 180,000 instead of her previous salary of 150,000 , as a result her annual income will rise from 75,000 to 90,000 a generous increase of 18% , while her lump sum rises from 225,000 to almost 275,000 , Nice try though , Leo's wasting our money if your what 5million gets him
Try using punctuation and paragraphs. Then people might read your sh1t.

A Garda Commissioner who should have been sacked gets a few million in a payoff. The HSE pays out large sums of public money in undisclosed settlements which means there are no consequences for incompetence or worse in Irish hospitals.

It is a bit of a system isn't it? And not one calculated to promote any sense of professional responsibility in anyone serving in that system.

It is like some kind of halting site for gamblers.

There is a history of treating EU offices as a (gold plated) dumping ground for people forced to resign in controversial circumstances at national level. Another example was when FF attempted to appoint retired Judge Hugh O'Flaherty to the EIB.

When I first saw the title of this thread I misread it as "Are Gardai buggering TD's now?".........

They'd certainly deserve each other. :p

If any TDs were carrying out a campaign encouraging lawbreaking, the Gardai were 100% right to have them under surveillance. That's their job.
The gardai break the law often as do the government.

But nolle prosequi is granted 'carte blanche' to incumbents.

That is not the 'rule of law' and well you know it.

What has Mrs williams have to say about this matter? Surely mr williams would have mentioned something over a cuppa and perhaps a spanking.

Quite frankly I'd be amazed if the AGS hadn't been bugging the phones of the Independent TDs who stuck with McCabe's revelations.

It would be counter-intuitive given what we know about the AGS these days to assume they would have any restraint at all in that direction.

At this point the AGS is so disreputable that they would find it hard to convince anyone that they act within any kind of regulatory boundaries at all.
