Arrest warrant issued for Wikileaks founder on charges of rape

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange accused of rape

Swedish authorities say they have issued an arrest warrant for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, on accusations of rape and molestation.

Certainly interesting timing, I think we can expect the conspiracy nuts to be out in force over this.

Too early to say what is going on. Could indeed be genuine, but it's not as if we live in a world where states play by the rules. Just ask Colin Wallace.

Of course they occur. That doesn't mean that most conspiracy nuts aren't lunatics who should be in residential care somewhere warm and safe.

So, this guy knows the world's spooks are chasing him down and will do anything to shut him up, so he goes and rapes somebody.

Loonie leftie indeed.

Could be genuine, could be fake, could be made up to discredit him, could be genuine but dug up to discredit him, could be made up just to tap into the fact that he's in the news, could be reported by the women because he's in the news. Two things are certain, though - that the timing is convenient for people who'd like to see him discredited, and that the internet will make or break this story.

Well we'll see how it goes. I'm not sure why people are so quick to prejudge the case. Sweden's got some of the most liberal media laws in the world, so I'm sure more facts will emerge pretty quickly.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but there's a bit of a pong off this one.

Man who has seriously pissed off US and NATO suddenly wanted for rape in a key non-NATO US ally.

Or maybe the Stig Larsson trilogy is still in my mind...

He played with fire. Don't f£&k with the military!
At least you're not one of the sheep, some of whom have already come to graze here, whose priority is to portray as lunatics those who hold that states engage in conspiracies in furtherance of their interests.

You appear to be aware that state intelligence agencies will use any means to attack those who stand in their way, the end justifying those means.

In this case, I find it difficult to imagine that a man whom the CIA, MI5 and Mossad would give anything to destroy would be engaging in rape following news conferences regarding his role in exposing the barbarism of western agencies.

From the point of view of the intelligence operatives, an accusation of rape is perfect as it requires the word of one person against another, and even if unproven leaves a stain on the reputation of the accused.

Oh for ********************s sake -if you're goign to pedal conspiracy theories - get it right. Why the ******************** are you equating the CIA and with MI5 (the Security Service) when they both have two completely different roles. It should be Secret Intelligence Service (MI6).

Jesus wept.

Expressen (Swedish, translated via Google)

He was in Stockholm for just a few days.
He allegedly met one woman on Saturday or Sunday, and the other on Tuesday morning.
The meetings were work-related.
The two women, both in their 20s, know each other.

If they know each other and the meetings were two days apart, it is surprising that the first woman would not have warned the second woman.

I think there are strong hints of a set-up here.

As reactions to typos go, that's got to be the most hysterical I've seen. Your frothing eruption speaks volumes about what part of your anatomy does the thinking.

The fact that you've homed in like a hungry vulture on a technicality is illuminating.

Jesus wept.

Remember this story of the whistleblower on alleged Gold Market fraud/manipulation by JPMorgan Chase?

Whistle-blower on Gold market manipulation, injured in hit-and-run accident

Eventhough the police, after a helicopter and car chase, caught the assailant who hit Maguire "at full acceleration" as he came out of a side street in London, they still will not reveal his identity, even to Maguire. He has been unable to get any information from the police since and the accident happened last March. There's something very strange about it all you'd have to admit.

Perhaps we sometimes do underestimate the lengths some people will go to in order to discredit or silence dissenters?
