While the budget cuts kick in from the first week of 2013, it seems that at least one car dealership is doing ok..

58 brand new, 131 reg Audi A6, minimum 46k on the road (and you can be damn sure these babies aren't going to be standard spec models) parked up outside Farmleigh... while your wage check is lighter

Make you sick this does

Doesn't make me sick at all. Audi are coughing up for this as a sponsor of the EU Presidency, hence there's no cost either to the State or to your "wage check" (cheque, by the way Rock).

That is wonderful , well done audi . Now if our government did not want to appear out of touch or insensitive to the population they have lied too and stole from in the last two years they might have said thanks but no thanks and indulged in some car pooling .To that they would have to be different than their predecessors , which they are patently not .

Why on earth would they have rejected an offer of free audis?

To my knowledge they are putting on buses for the lesser folk in the entourage. Only the top names get to ride in the free Audis.

There are 50 Audis on offer but 15,000 EU officials are turning up.

Yes there was a picture of a minister shaking hands with a car salesman but we are assured it wont cost us anything.

Given that it was the Italians that helped us out (via Draghi) maybe the lads should have got Ferraris (or Fiats).

The FIAT would have been a delicious irony had it happened, given that we apparently corrupted the concept of the prudential issuance of fiat currency.

Ah well, with German Audi(tors) we can fix it again tomorrow!

God bless your innocence. There is no such thing as a free lunch. What is the betting that Audi will win some good deals from Government in the future on the back of this altruistic gesture.
