That you still feel that the family and procreational aspects of marriage are little more than 'breeding' speaks volumes for your complete and utter failure to appreciate or understand marriage or heterosexuality outside of your homosexual bubble.
Oh well.

If you think silverharp's vision of marriage is plausible, that would explain a lot.
it certainly doesnt include going to my daughter's wedding where she becomes wife number 8 to some rich dude.

I think marriage as an institution should serve the people., not the state.
The state is made up of people you know.

As are the children / future generations they are planning for when they ponder matters such as demographics, future tax take etc.

Those future generations have interests in being treated as people too.

From the link....

"Imam Mohammad Tawhidi, a sheikh from Adelaide, told Today Tonight that the interpretation that said men can marry up to four women was outdated.
He said it was meant for times of war, when scores of men were killed and the remaining women needed to be protected.
Imam Tawhidi accused Muslims in Australia that try to remarry of 'misusing the religion' for their own pleasure.
'This is all about pleasure, lust or even revenge,' he said.
'We have Muslims in this modern day and age where they believe because they have enough money and can afford it that they go around looking for second wives, for pleasure. This is misusing the religion."

So from within the ranks of Islam itself we can find figures to slam this patriarchal indulgence
Wasn't Mohommed given an exemption so he could have an extra wife? A nine year old? Its difficult to waffle your way out of that one. The truth is that Islam was outdated and babaric even in the 7th century. Why are we even discussing this nonsense.

Because it's "racist" and "Islamophobic" not to consider it, well according to Mercurial it is.

Jaysis but himself is no oil painting. He did well getting one woman to marry him. Expecting another is pushing it a bit.
Would he not have a go at winning the lotto? He may have a better chance at enjoyment in life?

Claude Levi-Strauss considered that human society - as distinct from tribes - emerged when we started trading women as "wives". Breeding out plus the chance of a profit.
