There seems to be a trend in the names being given to boys...(Jack, James, Daniel, Sean and Conor are ever-popular.

There's a little less uniformity to girls' names.

What is a good name? A solid name? An unusual name? Is an unusual name a burden?

Any suggestions for the baby that will soon be in my world?

Anybody who starts banging on about how all boys will be called Muhammad, can take a hike...

Thanks!

I would always think calling someone after someone in the family is nice. At least that means something. Unusual names can be a bit of a burden. Then again, popular names can be a pain when it comes to email addresses.

Alfred.

Has a good power name that can be shortened to Alfie when a cute baby or Alf if he drops out of college.

Go literary....Atticus?...from the first novel, not the sequel...

....or.....pick a normal name and stick a umlaut on it...

Once worked with a Ciara, who insisted on being called "Kee-aarrrr-ah"
