Bob White was born in Ballymoney in 1935 and the family emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1949. At the age of 15 he left school to start work, immediately joining and getting involved with his labour union, despite his father's warnings not to get involved with unions.

He led the Canadian Auto Workers spilt from the American parent United Auto Workers in 1984, wanting a better deal for Canadian workers. Bob was president of the CAW and later president of the Canadian Labour of Congress.

Rest in peace.
