Look, it was 1950/60’s Ireland.. the Nuns were every bit as compromised as everyone else with regard to the morality of the times.

My aunt the Nun cried telling a story about a girl about her own age who was put in the laundry by a brother who used it as a way of getting rid of her after he inherited the family farm and got married.. his new wife didn’t want a spinster sister in law about the place… that’s how it was in 1950’s Irish society..

the Magdalene’s were a convenient means for a dysfunctional Irish society to dispose of unwanted inconvenient people.

Your notion that the Nuns were harvesting young mothers for profit is silly.
No, contempt of course is taken very seriously. In this case, he had numerous opportunities to purge his contempt and refused.
Agree. The Judge gave him every chance. I believe he will do all that time, over a comma?

Nothing worse that those wannabe lawyers who think they can outsmart the system with pedantry. The kind of dìck who thinks a garda can't arrest you unless he's wearing his hat, and other such shìte. :rolleyes2:

It might give him pause for thought.
Naah. It'll feed his martyrdom and his dimwit followers will treat him as the second coming when he's released. The neonnazis have their own Tommy Robinson.

A violent rapist who didn't participate fully in sex-offender treatment is to be released this weekend but the country’s best known anti-eviction activist Ben Gilroy remains locked up for exposing the rot within our ‘justice’ system #FreeBenGilroy

That twitter thread is spot on. But while funny, there is a dark side to this guy, in that his brand of "legal" advice is not free. He has taken money from many desperate people for his bullshit advice, which in nearly every case has made their situation worse. The high court referred his finances to revenue last year

He sounds like a complete idiot and crank, but sadly typical of the sort that gains traction among certain sections of the media and the left in this country.

In some ways you wish Gemma actually had got a presidential nomination to run. Just to expose here.

That link is fantastic, summarizing all the crazy stuff Gilroy tried.
Looks like he's slowly being forgotten about. No media coverage and even now, no social media coverage. That is how you deal with him a shameless self promoter, starve them of oxygen/publicity.
