Just heard this on Matt Cooper. He played a clip of Ahern praising Dubai as a model of visionary development and a great success. No wonder he made such a balls of the Irish Economy

The similarities are amazing. They built an economy on quicksand we built one on flood plains.

Ah come on, Dubai has been a spectacular trainwreck waiting to happen for years and years now.
We all know that but Ahern's timing is hilarious. What a doofus

Right gotcha, misread your first comment :D

Truly Da Bert missed his true calling, he has the gift of comic timing, he could be making millions on the English club circuit pedling his unique brand of Paddywhackery.

Dubai didn't go bang overnight. It was obvious this was coming! What in the Lord's name was Bertie up to. Embarrassing.

Bertie is at least being consistant. Dubai may become the first 'sovereign fund' to be unable to pay it's debts. 'Greece, Latvia, Hungary' and sometimes Ireland , are persistently mentioned as possible bigger defaulters.

Bertie and the current FF cabinet believe that the collapse of the property bubble is temporary. Hence NAMA. They see prices returning to 90% of the peak within 10 years per their valuer.

No doubt he approves of slave labour as well. Seriously the man should not be let out. I don't know how he got those highly paid speaking gigs

Every drunk arsehole loves a good yarn and nobody spins a yarn like Bertie spins a yarn.

An appalling property bubble, favoured by rich knackers like footballers and X-factor 'stars', built on the backs of tens of thousands of foreign workers living in appalling conditions and working for slave wages.

No wonder Bertie was impressed
