Poor old Bertie, he's still under the impression that people actually wanted him in Cashel this week, but he claims he pulled out of the speech at the Chamber of Commerce because he didn't want the hassle of a protest by a "bunch of Shinners"

When will this man actually realise, that the Irish people are turning their back on him in droves, and the planned protest was supported by people all across the Irish political spectrum, by members of all parties and none.

"Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern says he pulled out of his controversial speaking engagement in Cashel this week because he didn't want the "hassle" that a protest planned by a group of "Shinners" would bring him after being informed about their plans by two prominent County Tipperary people.

In another twist to the controversy over his withdrawal from the Cashel Chamber of Commerce Enterprise Awards ceremony, Mr Ahern insisted it wasn't the case that the Chamber of Commerce withdrew its invitation to him to address the function that takes place this Thursday night."

You just weren't wanted Bertie. Take a hint and slither away back under the rock you emerged from. Your NOTW ad is proof of your contempt for the esteemed office you held, and yet you cannot understand the contempt hundreds of thousands of Irish people hold you in

I really want him to run for President - just to see the look on his face on count night when he is humiliated into last place by David Norris, Michael D, George Hook, and Dustin, Podge or Rodge.

The guy is a total sociopath but it's only going to get worse for him.
The penny is finally dropping in most circles, the guy is toxic and anyone credible and serious is avoiding him like the plague
For instance, does anyone seriously believe Bill Clinton spending 4 days in Ireland and Ahern failing to even get a quick photo or handshake is a coincidence?

Fair play to SF for stopping this man from speaking in Cashel. He has found his true home in a cupboard.

It wasn't SF, it was our very own RockOfCashel of this parish who organised it himself, the SF thing is just another El Berto eh "misremembering", the greasy thieving sociopathic little lying runt.

I know there was a campaign on P.ie but the SF rumblings of a protest was a real reason, but who cares it was stopped and that is a result.

Just like Bertie to try and put spin on it, there seems to be no level low enough for this man to go, but I am sure in time he will reach the bottom of the cupboard (pun intended) and realise that the spivs who tug their forelock to him are just that, gutless spivs and that the people of Ireland are disgusted by him.

Well done ROC, gives me some hope to see people like yourself in action. :)

If you are reading this Bertie Ahern ,will you please just realise that you are persona non grata everywhere now -will you please have some dignity and retire to some foreign country(the further away the better). You are yesterday`s man and we are sick and tired of seeing you try to cling on to the vestiges of publicity and popularity .You are hated by the vast majority of (intelligent) people in this country so do us all a favour and just go away and spin your yarns elsewhere.

I would only favour him going to another country with which we have a solid extradition treaty. If right is right , he should see years inside.

Did not notice, but then Clinton had the gall to campaign for him in 2007 via a party political broadcast. Bertie brought him to Fagan's for a pint, but now it appears to be "keep away from me you unclean"

If we tell his US agent to have a look at the cupboard ad, I wonder would he still get the same speaking fees.
