Black Africans: highest rates of unemployment and reports of discrimation in work in the State latest research

According to a press release on the ESRI website a press release for a report published by ESRI and the Equality Authority announces that 'Black Africans have the highest rate of unemployment and the lowest rate of employment; this group also reports the highest rates of discrimination both in the workplace and when looking for work.'

One of the findings was that 'Black Africans are almost seven times more likely to report experiencing discrimination in the workplace, and seven times more likely to report having experienced discrimination when looking for work.'

Ethnicity and Nationality in the Irish Labour Market

According to the press release, Ms Renee Dempsey CEO of the Equality Authority stated that "This report shows that immigrants do not fare as well as Irish nationals in the Irish labour market. Clearly there needs to be a renewed focus on promoting equality for immigrants and for minority ethnic groups in the labour market and throughout society."

Africans complaining about wacism and discwimination in Ireland - well, isn't that just terrible? The solution to all this 'wacism' right now is more Quangoism, more money to be spent educating and browbeating the natives about the evils of giving jobs to Irish people, the benefits of cultuwal divewsity, and more 'jobs' for suitably appropriate boys and girls to push yet more propaganda that we cannot give jobs to our own people.

Their high rates of unemployment might, of course, have nothing to do with their work ethic or lack thereof and the fact that they might be better off financially by not working.

Comments on an Irish Independent article on the same topic are instructive as to the true feelings of Irish people. Maybe we do prefer our own kind after all.

Its not really fair to blame Ireland for the unemployment part. We haven't been responsible for their education or training. We need to find out what sort of training and education these people have.

Lets be honest here, the reason black people are more likely to be unemployed is that about 80% of them have no intention of ever working because they didnt come here to work, they came for the free housing, social welfare, childrens allowance, medical cards and all the rest that goes with the welfare state..lets get real, and if the welfare call them in and ask them why their not trying to get work they play the discrimination card,
and before all you do gooders get on your high horses about racism, im not being racist..just telling it as it is..facts

Maybe they feel they're better off on the dole and working in the black economy.

What percentage of black immigrants are highly educated? The vast majority are competing for unskilled, minimum wage jobs and so as a group they'll have been hit particularly hard by the economic collapse.

Ethically I want to disagree with you, but Logically I can't. I don't understand why Ireland has so many Immigrants from Nigeria, at a time of High Unemployment here, when they neither enjoy EU travel rights nor have skills that we can't provide ourselves.

So how come it's mostly native Irish who are emigrating?
Maybe the Equality Authority can do a survey and let us know why?
Hell, us taxpayers will even finance that survey too.

Two things, off the bat, Dr Pat?

1. In your thread title, what does "discrimation" mean? I cannot find it in my dictionary.

2. Why are you such a piece of racist sh*t?

Thanks.

Maybe the Equality Authority could tell us how many Irish taxi drivers there are working in Abuja?
No idea, but I bet there are a few in the US.

But that's no problem is it?

On 1, you are correct and thank you for pointing out my error.
Concerning 2, did you get a warm fuzzy feeling saying that, Astral Troughs? There seem to be a lot of us 'wacists' around these days if the comments on this thread and to the Independent's report are anything to go by. Must really get your goat. You will have to renew your efforts to scream, cajole and berate us to ensure that we all tow the pc line. In the meantime, keep shoving that oversized head of yours further up your transom.
