Breaking: CIA says that Russia intervened to help Trump.

O

Oscurito

This has just hit the newswires in the last half hour or so.

The CIA found that Russia's interference with the presidential elections went beyond an attempt to undermine American democracy as a whole - and actively favored Donald Trump's chances

Those who provided WikiLeaks with emails from hacked Democratic accounts have been identified by intelligence authorities as members of a Russian campaign who worked towards the goal of seeing Trump elected, officials told the Washington Post. And those leaks were overwhelmingly selected to discredit Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party.

There is now a similar campaign targeting Germany to promote the chances of the AfD in next year's elections.

This is the CIA, folks - hardly a bastion of left-wing liberalism. Does this not gravely undermine the legitimacy of the Trump presidency?

And given the timing of the release of the story, could it affect the electoral college?

CIA says Russia intervened to help Trump win

The Democrats did a lot more to get Trump elected . The Democrats didn't need help from Russia to get Trump elected . They did a great job themselves .

No it does not undermine it. The only way it can be undermined is if the election (votes) are rigged.

It is what it is and the choice was made. Outside influence in elections is common.

Shock horror...

No they didn't

- the Washington Post did.

A CIA spokeswoman said the agency had no comment on the matter.

As Joe Scarbourough stated - Hillary Clinton lost because of Hillary Clinton.

The CIA were involved in regime change in Kiev and have not yet explained what happened.

Wikileaks has told the truth about the Clintons, the Saudis, the DNC, the Podestas, Mr. & Mrs Weiner, & corruption in the USDP.

Who has ever accused the CIA of being a bastion of left wing liberalism?

So what if the Russkies did hack the DNC/Clinton and gave the info to Wikileaks. If there wasn't the embarrassing info that they were hiding like Clinton's speeches to the Wall Street bankers praising globalisation and promising them even more of it during her term while singing a different tune to the rust belt State's voters then it would not have mattered a damn.

It's not just about the election though, is it? Massively important though that is.

There are no free lunches in this game. The Russians didn't help Trump because they like his hair. A couple of years ago, they'd have looked on him with horror as a right-wing US nationalist who'd be hostile to their interests.

What did Trump promise them to get so much assistance?

The most interesting thing here is that Obama got the CIA to say this. Policing domestic espionage is the role of the FBI - but the FBI is pro-Tweetler.

Two CIA officials said it.

Look, this isn't Weekly World News or Breitbart. It's the Washington Post - an old school newspaper. They check and double check...

A right wing US nationalist? Drop a bean bag from any building in the US and you're sure to hit one of those.

Who cares? Maybe they just want to see the US crumble from the inside and thought Trump capable of it.

I don't doubt that Trump will grasp something for himself, but remember that a lot of Americans voted for Trump simply because he isn't Clinton.

And some voted for him because Clinton seemed determined to go "toe to toe" against Russia and they didn't want that.

So maybe, just maybe, Russia felt the same on both counts...

Not so much if you do it in the so-called Beltway....
