A leading crime correspondent has this morning reported the shocking fact that two Gardai were overheard on Dublin's O'Connell Street, speaking a language that resembled English. They should of course have been conversing in an encrypted and secure Gardai approved language such as Swahili or Gaeilge.

The two Gardai have since apologised profusely for their negligence; in their defence they offered the excuse, that since they were both native sons of Lixnaw in Kerry, that sure none of the Dublin Jackeens would understand them anyway.

Their representative association has taken up their case with the Minister for Justice, saying that Gardai morale has plummeted again following this scandal and that the only cure is a new annual €10,000 'language allowance'.
