My bet is for Nash to replace him.

Isn’t he the plonker who was a minister in dept of enterprise etc when they signed off on the new companies act?

the same act that facilitated the closure of clerys

and Nash jumping up and down on the picket lines forgetting that erm he was party to bringing in the same legislation

I hope Alan 'The Ego Has Landed' Kelly gets it....that should be the final nail in Labours coffin.

Kelly states that he is motivated by a desire for power, stating:
"It’s obviously a drug. It’s attractive."
"It’s something you thrive on. It suits some people. It doesn’t suit others. I think it suits me."

I assume AK47 will stand for this , although reportedly disliked for his abrasiveness by most of the parliamentary party(all five of them) he might get some support among the grassroots as a shake it up type of leader for a party in(or past) last chance salon for any kind of relevance , Nash and Sherlock seem a bit too bland.
He has a chance of getting 1 Vote of the parliamentary party. Well, if he doesn’t fall out with himself.

Posted this on another thread.

Just as relevant here.

He was part of the government that rescued this country in the post 2011 period.

In 2010 Ireland's government deficit was three times worse than Greece's relative to the size of both countries.

We were half way to Venezuela then.

But the Irish media are in favour of a Venezuela type future still.
He did a good job then, but has paid a very heavy price.

the main one being that the next govt will be peopled by TDS who have had to be taken to court to pay their rent for themselves and their convicted drug dealer husbands, and supporters of ira, including supporters of the murderers of Garda jerry McCabe

Socialism my a55, last article I read about him, is that he is worth €3.6 million.
Jayus he wasn't very successful was he, most socialist leaders are worth far more than that.

No loss to the electorate.

He and Gimme gimme more destroyed Labour nmore than any other Labour leader in history.

He and gimme more transformed Labour from 3 Rd party in opposition to totally irrelevant and barely existent party. Howlin and Burton destroyed everything that Labour stood for in roots and values of their founding fathers.

Bullies, both of them and I have met both of them. They destroyed their party for their own advantage.

I used to vote Labour back in the day. I haven't since they joined up with the "Stickies".

EDIT - James Connolly would be spinning over what Labour became.

So at last he did the honourable thing and fell on his very rusty sword, good riddance to him.
Labour should now join up with the SDs and then we will have our very own SDLP. God help us.😀

That a special talent you have....posting lies and bullshit about Howlin on TWO threads...well done...and you even got a like from somebody just as naive and ill-informed as yourself.

Brendan Howlin was one of the principals behind foreign vulture funds raiding Irish housing markets, and Irish banks getting a free ride at the taxpayers expense.

He presided over the public sector reforms and reviews that systemically failed to deliver any meaningful reforms in the public sector, beyond temporary cut backs.
He co-delivered 2012-2016 Budgets that were largely about temporary savings and no deep reforms to improve public services delivery, effectively kicking the can down the proverbial road.
These budgets were also deeply regressive saddling lower middle class and lower income earners with higher costs.

Aye. The only Politician I ever Canvassed for was the late Jim Kemmy back in that nasty November Election of 1982. I told Jim at the time (he lost his seat in that election) he would get back in the Dail, but never did I think, I would be so disappointed when he formally joined up with Labour. Turned a genuine Socialist in to caricature one. Labour lost their soul finally in 2011 and they will never rise again. (n)
