So tonight, that great talent, Brendan O'Connor, will have the opportunity to replace Ryan Tubridy in the Saturday night chat slot. Of course it should be pointed out that this is merely a trial session, as Craig Doyle, heavyweight BBC personality of esteem and gravitas, will also be given a 4 week stint to prove himself.

Waiting in the wings of course is Gerry Ryan, giving RTE a fall-back option should O'Connor lose the plot (again) and Doyle prove too.....safe.

Of course, the national broadcaster is far more concerned with O'Connor's ratings on the Apprentice spin-off and have serious issues in their 'light' entertainment division. Best to keep ones options open. However, the chance to see O'Connor make a further case for his talent will keep this poster riveted to the TV screen.

I look forward to reading the critical reviews in the Sunday Independent tomorrow.

That's O Conner, right there in the middle. A sneering class sycophant that thinks a persons address tells him everything about the content of their character and everything he writes reflects it.
He's the worst kind of paint-by-numbers journalist there is and the sooner the failed comedian exits stage left from every form of media in the country, the better.

One really despairs if O'Connor is the best RTE have to offer for prime time viewing, Saturday night.

Don't like him, But he did well on the apprentice show on TV3 but hosting a chat show might be different! it could be acr crash TV or because expectations are lowish he might do better than expected!

Should be pointed out that the programme is pre-recorded. For very good reasons one would think.

Brendan O'Connor - witty and urbane interviewer

Looked up meaning of 'urbane'

'showing sophistication, refinement, or courtesy'

Brendan O'Connor? Sophisticated? Refined? Courteous? Witty? You've got to be joking.

Having scraped the bottom of the barrel (Gee Ryan), RTE are now scraping under the barrel.

what about you reffering to yourself as "one" all the time, whats that about?

im assuming you are irish and i find it strange you choose to type with an english toff accent.

so are you trying to appear english toff?

1. You cannot type "with an accent".

2. It's perfectly grammatically correct, and is not confined to the English language.

Back on topic please!
