From the piece.

"But he has been unable to restore market confidence in the country's banks. Having taken responsibility for €74bn of their dud property loans and provided €50bn of recapitalisations, the 51-year-old has run out of policy tools and the sector is back where it started – facing a funding crisis and locked out of the debt market."

Hardly a ringing endorsement from international commentators.

"Lenihan is a useless twat" shock.

Everybody loved him and his duplicitous little ways when he was kicking the public servants. Looks like we're all going down together now.

Ah well.

Very true, harryshounds. Lenihan has done exactly what the Eurofederalists and their acolytes in media organs such as the FT demanded, but all he's gotten in return is a kick in the teeth.

It's time to resist. We should remove ourselves from the European Union without delay, it is a morally and financially bankrupt project.

At least the FT is financiall literate

We've come a way since August when Newsweek cast Clowen as a fiscal taskmaster aided by his "able finance minister". Mind you, we "aren't showing much gratitude".

I hope someone sends a copy of this to poor Brian and explains that he is at the bottom,as he usually gets things upsidedown, he thinks he is tops.

Newsweek have always been ejits. They are National Enquirer with an attempt at an international focus. Their research barely stretched to wikipedia. They even seem to have used a sketch of Gerry Ryan instead of Brian Cowen.

I suppose the fact that there is one person ranked below him under Credibility means he's still good to lead FF into the election?

Typical of our useless media to have been telling us how wonderful he is for the last two years while as per usual the foreign media called it like it is from way earlier. Hope he becomes the next leader of FF and then loses his seat. Two handy cut out and keep pieces for the canvass.
