Brits blink. DUP defeated and Leo goes full republican. Another masterful performance by Sinn Fein.

The unelected brethren will not allow them to sign up to the Irish Language Act, it will be implemented by WM as it involves giving the same equality rights to ALL regions they have jurisdiction over.
Are you saying that WM will enact an Irish Language Act as it involves giving same equality rights to all regions they have jurisdiction over - you are saying that all regions WM have jurisdiction over have already got an Irish Language Act - This is different to Abortion rights and Same Sex Marriage rights

Try answer with some sort of argument that doesn't involve abuse or dismissal

Wales and Scotland both have minority languages alongside English and an Irish Language Act in NI would put Irish in NI on the same legislative footing as Gaelic in Scotland, Welsh in Wales and Irish in Ireland in much the same way as SSM and abortion rights are now similar in All parts of both islands.

Excuse the pedantry but is there an English Language Act for England which is within WM's jurisdiction

FG - Irish GE 2011: 76 seats
FG - Irish GE 2016: 50 seats
FG - End of 2019: 48 seats
FG - Irish GE 2020: ?
Interesting,
How many seats did you expect poor FG to win back in 2016?

Irish should not be banned in Ireland - fullstop.

England, and the Unionists artificial veto on democracy in Ireland, must go!

Being called out on the meaning of words by a poster who put up these gems.

“I am very well read up on conflict on the North and have researched using those involved from all protaganists.”

What did AH's like you did for the homeless ever?

Good piece here to start learning some...…..from Professor no less pal.

As for Language equality:

Scotland
Some signs in the Highlands of Scotland have names in both English and Gaelic, almost always for place names (Mallaig, Fort William etc.), but often also on street signs, such as this one in Oban. Gaelic names can be tagged using name:gd=*, with name=* for the name in English. Note there are a few place names where the Gaelic name is the official name, for example Drochaid a' Chaolais Chumhaing in Sutherland.

gd is the ISO 639-1 code for Scottish Gaelic, which isn't the same as the other Gaelic languages (Irish and Manx), so this code is only for Scottish Gaelic. This is the Gaelic which is used in Canada as well.

An OSM rendering showing the Gaelic names is available at OSM Alba.

Scots names can be tagged using name:sco=*, with name=* for the name in English. Names in Scots are not usually listed on signs. Often the Scots name for a place can only be determined with local knowledge.

Some places (mainly islands) have Old Norse names as well, use name:non=* for these. (non is the ISO 639-2 code for Old Norse)

Why wasn't it treated the same way WM dealt with Abortion and SSM

I am sure you have missed the irony of misspelling my user name with ANTISTUPIDITY - think about it - How can someone who claims to have such great knowledge of NI answer all posters who disagree with him with insults - just shows your lack of knowledge as I am sure if you had done any research you would not answer all posters who question you with an insult - as for this claim,

“I am very well read up on conflict on the North and have researched using those involved from all protaganists.”

When one of these protaganists (sic) give an opinion that you disagreed with did you call them AHs - you claim to have researched using "All protaganists (sic)" which must surely mean that you spoke to Unionists/Loyalists - did you call them AHs as I am sure you would have disagreed with what they told you.

If you were a reasonable person, you would not constantly abuse and insult posters who disagree with you. Do you think it is the right thing to do. Try and think of what affects your abuse can have. Again, you have every right to express your opinions as do I. Why do you need to be abusive when posting an opinion.

Sinn Fein have once again demonstrated their mastery of asymmetric warfare. A soft border, the destruction of DUP hegemony and Leo’s born again republicanism are some of the fruits of the Sinn Fein strategy. Leo’s hard line on the border was pure Sinn Fein and the decision to stand down Sinn Fein candidates in favour of tactical voting was genius. Mary Lou can take the credit as both policies were her idea. She assiduously courted Varadkar and Coveney on the border issue and effectively formulated Irish government policy. That policy is now based on an assumption that there will be a numerical majority in favour of unification within five years.

McDonald agreed to let FG take the lead in opposing a hard border and keep SF in the background so as not to frighten the horses. In return, Leo and Simon agreed to stare down the Brits and enter into a FG/SF coalition after the next election if the numbers stack up. This is a historic realignment of Irish politics. The traditionally pro-Brit FG are now singing from the same hymnbook as Sinn Fein while FF have abandoned the last vestiges of republicanism to become a party with no ideological principles whatsoever apart from Fianna Fail first, country last.

No one believes that Michael Martin would have taken such a hard line with the Brits. Varadkar can rightly argue that he is is the most effective constitutional nationalist since Daniel O’Connell in terms of results acheived. No other Irish Taoiseach has achieved so much for his countrymen north of the border. Varadkar and FG have earned the gratitude of the Irish Nation north and south and could well win the next election on the strength of their ‘border campaign’ alone.
