Burdening our grandchildren with debt...

B

birthday

I notice how the term 'Burdening our grandchildren with debts' has crept into conversation recently. Not a bad thing for people to think ahead that far and not something that we see much of in Ireland (or elsewhere).

However I do notice that it seems to be the promissory note deal that was the cause of this justifiable concern.

On the other hand I notice the lack of any such concern when we are talking about borrowing money to continue unsustainable public spending.

Does this indicate that those who use this term are not truly concerned about 'our grandchildren' and have just found a clever soundbite?

If so, it seems a pity.
