Yes I saw it the other day. Apparently the early lighting up is to encourage shopping in this rather slow economic climate. Or so someone told me. I dont know if that is the Councils idea.

This obsession with crap Euro style 'art' has got to stop.

The big nitting needle has actually grown on me although i still thinks its a daft meaningless sculpture.

Blocking off the road to Newry is the only thing thats going to encourage Dublin shopping.

It looks like someone dropped a wigwam in the bathtub.

The local homeless people will now be lit up by a hugely expensive lampshade, the christmas spirit is truly alive !

It really is appalling - And the "Stilletto in the Ghetto" is an abomination as well...

I have images in my head of this thing being fetched out of the liffey, after being sent flying after a strong breeze:D

I want to hate it, but I can't. Sure, I'd like it more if it were green and had gold lights, but this is kinda nice.

Look at all the other abonimations the Corpo have subjected us to - I'll start the list off:

The stilletto in the ghetto
Bidet Mulligan
The chimes in the slime
The stiffy by the Liffey
The tart with the cart

What about "The ************************* with the Stick". I like the U.F.O. But what has it to do with Christmas.

Anyone know who's to turn it on? The Lord Mayor is my guess.

I quite like it.
The old green tree with bobbles on it is always nice and no one can complain, but this has a certain something about it.
