I find that other LGBT people I talk to do not like Trump and reflexively support liberal positions on non LGBT issues especially immigration and abortion.

Is it possible to be conservative and LGBT? I find myself somewhat exceptional in my political views.

In US terms I'm in favour of LGBT rights but tough on immigration and support tough but humane policing and sentencing. On abortion I support legalising it to protect the mothers health but don't support late or partial birth abortion.

On free speech I am a libertarian except I support defamation laws to protect the right to a citizens good name in cases of defamation.

I also support a strong social safety net.

I support a greater role for the private sector in public services like health, education and public transport.

So am I a gay conservative? Do they exist?

"blokes'bloke" is another gay conservative here.

I'm not sure just have politically reflective people like Mercurial are of the "Gay Community" as a whole. I have incidental evidence that they aren't.

I think usually it is better to follow one's reason and one's conscience as opposed to thinking that because you are part of a certain group you have to think one way or another. We have enough people doing the latter on here as it is without you joining them.

I've a gay relative married in the US to a gun totin', Trump-supportin', public-health-care-is-socialism conservative - and their political views aren't dissimilar.

Closer to home: Varadkar.

Several of our "gay" notables will tell you that you're not really gay at all, as they say themselves "many & varied genders, but only one voice"

It is an interesting question though.

I suspect there is a huge amount of group think going on with the traditional "gay" views on the liberal side, not really thought through, just received and latched on to, with those who do think differently more or less forced to keep quiet by the louder voices.

It's a very "us and them" mentality, the "them" being seen as "conservatives", so any conservative view or opinion is disliked just for where it comes from rather than for the merits of the opinion itself, which hardly seem to be considered at all.

No, they don't exist and yes, you are one.

I seem to recall that SOME LGBT people criticised those who went into bakeries/printers run by Christians, demanded that the latter provide them with "gay" wedding cakes or print pamphlets in support of gay rights and then sued when the Christians refused. I suppose the critics might be described as LGBT conservatives.

The reason I emphasise "might" is that suppose a person called himself a Conservative but spent a lot of time targeting businesses run by LGBT people, trying to get them to break the letter of the law so that he could sue them. I don't think that normal Conservatives would agonize about whether he was liberal, conservative, left or right. They wouldn't want to be associated with him at all.

LGBT peopele have more reasons to be concerned about Muslim immigration than any other people.

Even moderate Muslims find homosexuality to be disgusting, to them it's an abomination and they would gladly make "buggery" a criminal offence.

The majority of Muslims are united on the stance that homosexuality should be illegal, but the social justice warriors will never concern themselves with homophobia in Islam.

Hmm! A gay conservative? How about Vacuous Windbag Varadkar? Who is a gay right wing bollix, a frothing at the mouth Blue$hit Tory
that due to his far right political conservationism I am surprised that he actually admits to being gay! N.B. Disclaimer, I couldn't give a rats ar$e about his sexuality I just sincerely despise his rotten take on politics.
