Note its per tonne of Carbon and not per tonne of coal/briquettesCarbon Tax
The carbon tax will be extended to solid fuels on a phased basis. A rate of 10 per tonne will be applied with effect from 1 May 2013 and at a rate of 20 per tonne from 1 May 2014.
So according to a Fuel Merchant who was just on Liveline he calculates that this will add 2.50euro to the bag of 40kg coal and 50cents on a bale of briquettes.
So a household that goes thru 2 bags of coal a week will pay an extra 260euro a year.
This is on top of thw weekly fuel allowances being cut.
Well done Labour once again hitting the poor!
