In Ireland a politician making such comments in a potential legal case would almost certainly see a Trial not proceeding

- due to prejudicing the outcome...

This whole Thing stinks!:confused2:

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse WAS NOT a trial. BUT YOU KNEW THAT. :mad2:

She was right, it appears Cardinal George Pell wasn't too ill to be STUFFING HIMSELF WITH A LARGE PLATE OF *UNHEALTHY* STEAK AND CHIPS, GUZZLED DOWN WITH BEER. :mad2:

Indeed - if true it is a travesty of Justice!:confused2:

:devilish: You know it isn't true. You are well aware that the media is allowed to be present during the trial, but they can't report it in Australia until after the second trial is finalised. :devilish:

Looks like someone's been very busy following Pell about the place.

There'll be photos of him using Andrex quilted toilet roll to wipe his botty next.

If ypu scroll through Abuse Tracker you'll see several news-reports saying that this was the second trial of these charges. At the earlier trial the jury had failed to agree a verdict.

The additional strain, of a second trial, on a man aged 77 must have been massive. It would have further hindered any attempt at a vigorous and effective defence,

You are being ageist. Was Cardinal George Pell senile (mental decline) whilst head of the Secretariat for the Economy ~ one of the most powerful roles in the Vatican.

George Pell: Pope Francis removes Australian cardinal from inner circle | Australia news | The Guardian

Pell’s position as the financial controller of the Vatican makes him the third most powerful person in the Vatican. He is facing prosecution in Australia for historical sexual offences and has taken leave from the position. Pell has strenuously denied the allegations.

It appears there's not much wrong with his heart either.

Everyone carries a mobile phone these days.

Taking close up photos of some old geezer eating a meal/drinking beer is rather odd - even if he's a high ranking RCC official!
Liberals seem to have developed a real hatred of beer, first Kavanaugh, now Pell, I wonder would drinking pink gin with cherries on top be more to their liking?

It's called evidence. I only wish that it had been me (Starry) who captured the photos of Cardinal George Pell.

Cardinal Pell wasn't worried about his heart when he tucked into a FATTY meal of steak and chips, WHICH IS KNOWN TO RAISE BLOOD CHOLESTEROL LEVELS PUTTING HIM AT RISK OF STROKE.

And that's looks like his SECOND BEER (THERE'S AN EMPTY GLASS ON HIS SIDE OF THE TABLE).

Pell should have ordered fish and salad with a bottle of sparkling water.

HE WAS CAUGHT OUT LYING. PELL WASN'T WORRIED ABOUT HIS HEART. HE DIDN'T WANT TO FACE GAIL FURNESS SC AT THE ROYAL COMMISSION INTO INSTITUTIONAL RESPONSES TO CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE.

Is he wearing an ankle bracelet as a convicted felon? Have they taken his Australian and Vatican passports away yet?

The victims had to raise funds to travel to Italy to hear Cardinal George Pell give evidence via video link.

Come Home (Cardinal Pell) - Tim Minchin

 Tim, a big thank you for your community service to the survivors.

Australian Broadcasting Corp (Similar to RTE, BBC) ~

Cardinal George Pell reactions - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

For four days, the child abuse royal commission has forensically questioned Cardinal George Pell over his knowledge of alleged abuse within Australia's Catholic Church.

Abuse survivors and their supporters watched on as evidence was extracted from Australia's most senior Catholic — some of it, they said, "beggared belief".

Here are some of the key moments in his testimony and the reactions it drew.

Day one:

*Cardinal Pell said the church made 'enormous mistakes'

*He said the 'predisposition was not to believe' children's claims of abuse

*Cardinal Pell said the instinct was to protect the church

He was questioned specifically on two case studies — number 28 about the Diocese of Ballarat and number 35 about the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

These case studies included complaints about Monsignor John Day, Brother Gerald Leo Fitzgerald and Gerald Ridsdale.

Here's some of Cardinal Pell's most potent testimony from the day:

"...Too many of them [complaints] certainly were dismissed and sometimes they were dismissed in absolutely scandalous circumstances."

"They were very, very, very plausible allegations made by responsible people that were not followed up sufficiently."

"At that stage, the instinct was more to protect the institution, the community of the church, from shame."

....

Day two:

This was the day Cardinal Pell said the line that will potentially be remembered most.

Here's the line of questioning:

A: "It's a sad story and it wasn't of much interest to me."

Q: "What wasn't of much interest to you, Cardinal?"

A: The suffering of course was real and I very much regret that, but I had no reason to turn my mind to the extent of the evils that Ridsdale had perpetrated."

....

And here's a part of the testimony that prison-inmate, and laicised priest, one-time housemate of Pell, Gerald Risdale gave to the Royal Commission.

But, sadly, the justice-system whe asn't dealing with Pell's concealment of other people's offences; he was accused of molesting boys himself, and it's not clear that he's had a fair trial.

Here's one of the top-ranking churchmen ever to be convicted of child sexual abuse and you two guys are wibbling on about how creepy it is for someone to carry around a mobile phone and liberals harbouring some sort of imaginary hatred of beer.
It is not "liberal" to expect that victims of child sexual abuse should get justice, by the way. It is a normal human reaction, and you two should be ashamed of yourselves.

Speaking as someone who has liberal tendencies, I do like a tasty glass of beer and wouldn't touch gin if it was the last drink available on the planet.

The problem isn't with beer, or beer drinkers, it's with bare-faced liars who drink beer.

***RED ALERT WARNING***
THIS VIDEO IS NOT RECOMMENDED VIEWING BY MYSELF: STARRY. YOU CAN READ ABOUT THIS DEEPLY DEPRAVED INDIVIDUAL ON BROKENRITES.ORG ~~~

But, sadly, the justice-system whe asn't dealing with Pell's concealment of other people's offences; he was accused of molesting boys himself, and it's not clear that he's had a fair trial.

The defence barrister Robert Richter QC asked for two separate trials, and the Court acquiesced. There was a super suppression order on the media not to report anything about the trial. Today, people in Australia are not aware that Cardiinal George Pell is a convicted felon. The super suppression order will be removed once the second trial has finalised. I have no idea what you mean by throwing out words "it's not clear that he [PELL] got a fair trial." The court bent over backwards to accommodate Queens' Counsel Richter's requests.

Once the second trial is finalised, we will have more information from the reporters in attendance.

Your video of the disgusting Fr Gerald Ridsdale should come with a warning. I've mentioned this to you previously. Please desist from publishing videos about this fellow felon of Pell's without issuing a *RED ALERT WARNING.* Shame on you. Ridsdale's face and communications are enough to give one nightmares for months.

Cardinal George Pell's Jury Brought in an Unanimous Verdict of GUILTY

A top cardinal’s sex-abuse conviction is huge news in Australia. But the media can’t report it there. - The Washington Post

The front page of Thursday’s Herald Sun newspaper in Melbourne, capital of the Australian state of Victoria, is dominated by a single word in huge white type, all caps, on a black background: CENSORED.

“The world is reading a very important story that is relevant to Victorians,” reads the subhead. “The Herald Sun is prevented from publishing details of this significant news. But trust us. It’s a story you deserve to read.”

But because of a court-issued gag order intended to preserve impartiality, the news media has been forbidden from publishing news in Australia on the details of the Melbourne trial,

and now on the unanimous decision of the jury.

Those photos are undated - so how do you know when or where they were taken?
