Really? How did it take the good out of you? Isnt your prostate all the healthier for it?
the prostate cancer thing is a myth. I used to watch porn and still do from time to time. I never feel good after it. so abstinence works for me and allot of other men.

some of the testimonials on reddit are worth reading.

bit like the Green Man in England who appears on many a church building and on notable old premises... very much a pagan symbol but then it is worth remembering that the church's approach to this was to ban everything it could, suppress the rest, and absorb what it could.

Bear in mind that the whole Marian thing is a sub-cult with very definite pagan origins. The 'mary' character was something developed for and by women quite subversively within the church and the church have always been a bit sniffy about it as they are well aware where the story comes from around that figure.
The Cerne Abbas "Rude Man" in England.

Jeez, what a mighty instrument!

But probably another fertility symbol. The Romans kept phalluses in their homes for luck.

The ancient Greeks and Romans seem to have maintained a sense of the erotic in their daily lives that was extinguished with Christianity.

I believe there is a difference between atheism and absolute nihilism, which is what a society hooked on anything goes sex is about.

Hentai porn as its known depicts minors in animated form, a way to bypass laws. Its pretty dangerous regardless of what they claimed Jesus said about it.
There are worse things that sex that societies could be hooked on. Make love, not war etc etc

However, I agree with most of what you have been saying about porn. It is another risk factor in modern life that young people must be taught to manage responsibly.

the issue isn't so much the quantity but the increase in quality with the internet, better porn will invariably lead to less sex in the real world, whether thats a good or a bad thing to be decided

What makes you believe this? Masturbation takes the good out of you.. self experimentation told me this.
Its not a question of belief, its a perfectly normal, natural human activity, done since the dawn of humanity and even from before if the chimps (especially bonobos in the zoos that will have them) and monkeys in zoos are anything to go by.

What you appear to feel afterwards is psychological guilt that was imprinted on you from childhood or a guild towards not wanting to have sex with your partner, that's all.

There is nothing physically harmful with masturbation and there are probably plenty of benefits as well.

However, I have a feeling that the people in that reddit group are those who do not engage in healthy masturbation or a healthy sex life and may engage in it while using pornography at increased rates and possibly using extreme pornography.

I do masturbate but only if sex is not available and due to growing up with a dearth of pornography, its not really required for me, but I can understand how someone, men mainly but possibly women as well, use porn during their formative years and become dependent on it.

What I do not feel afterwards is guilt or shame or anything other than the desire for a quick snooze.

Like everything, overdoing it is the problem.

All things are poison, and nothing is without poison, the dosage alone makes it so a thing is not a poison.

It was written and warned against, the church protested and conservatives marched but who listened? pornography is now everywhere. Truth be told, every boy with the internet is watching it to some degree.

Social anxiety, depression, cognitive problems, lack of motivation are just some of the problems teenagers have today and its obvious where its coming from. Extreme sexual desires and damaged ego when they realise no girl wants to be with a drooling zombie that can barely put two sentences together.

The liberals have long defended pornography, they called it liberation and freedom. Little did they realise the demeaning nature of a business hell bent on destroying human values and women. A certain British MP Harriet Harmon went so far as to propose legalisation of porn involving minors. Talk about giving an inch and loosing a mile. Harriet Harman under attack over bid to water down child pornography law

However, there is good news.. many young men are revolting through abstinence from porn and the act of self interference. The web forum Reddit.com has a community of over 500k users, all reporting the difficulty porn use brought into their lives and a desire to fix their social and mental health issues. And its working, just several weeks away from porn is giving these young men a new lease of life, they are becoming much more social and attractive to women. concentration and focus has returned and lives are coming together. However, a simple relapse causes immediate loss of the benefits abstinence brought them, making it a life long struggle and fight against what has become a morbid addiction.

Its called the nofap movement and it needs to be publicised just as much as women's issues.
In the African phase of human evolution, hot weather allowed mass nudity or near nudity. So humans are uninhibited in terms of looking at attractive bodies, although staring is considered poor manners in society. Sexual promiscuity may have been customary in human evolution until private property and inheritance began with Homo Sapiens. This suggests that humans whose sexual fantasies can match porn can't be damaged by it.
