In Ireland the HSE frequently does its damndest to avoid legal responsibility around vulnerable children - their legal team are a master of pass the parcel

Father jailed for 14 years for raping son
Mr Justice Robert Eagar said the then six-year-old boy had been subjected to "appalling acts of sexual abuse" by his father.
...
During his evidence, the boy said he had been regularly raped, beaten, abused and threatened by his father, forced to have sex with his mother and at one point had been locked in a box.
...
The boy was taken into care and was in a number of foster homes.

He also said he had been sexually abused in one of those foster homes.
..
In his last foster home he began display disturbing, sexualised behaviour and then revealed the alleged sexual abuse.
...
He said it was clear there was a large amount of sexual abuse occurring in the house which had further damaged him and it "was not wise" to have placed him in this home.
Father alleged social workers 'brainwashed' son
She then married this man when she was 17 and he brought her to Ireland where they had two further children who were also taken into care.
...
She met another man with whom she had a child. That child was also taken into care.

In 2001, she met her current partner and co-accused and became pregnant with the boy at the centre of this case.
...
A psychological report said she was dependent on the boy's father and would have been unable to protect the child from him.
Ireland eh ?

Father jailed for 14 years for raping son from the age of six
A man who raped his son from the age of six years old and locked him in a box in their Waterford home has been jailed for 14 years.
...The child was taken out of the home by social workers in 2011, just before his eighth birthday and placed in foster care where he was further sexually abused by a child....
He said the man has six previous convictions for theft and drink driving but none for violent or sexual offences.

Social services, especially child services, are horrendously underfunded in this country. No wonder this case has come to light. I'm sure many others will too. So much for our Childrens Rights Referendum those short few years ago. I said it at the time, there was no indication of doing anything to support the new rights enshrined in the constitution. The state (and I mean the politicians, not "us") should hang their heads in shame everyday. I suppose that one is on "us". Politicians should be shamed at every hands turn. Lets start with the funerals. Run the fvckers out of them. In the street, shun the fvckers. When they call to your door, tell them you will have no conversation with them until they start devising policies that work for the people of Ireland, that will make thins [place a better one to live in. Not the parish pump bolloxology.

To quite some extent they are under funded ...but...also the way they allocate resources is...interesting

A middle class person wanting to adopt a child...will get lots of service

Someone with good employment track record but some local health difficulties and on social welfare ...ditto

Raped and beaten by the male who produced him (he does not deserve to be referred to as a father). No comment on the mother, as sentence is pending.

Then abused in foster care.

The male gets 14 years, with concurrent sentences...effectively no punishment for some of his crimes.

The child - still only 14 -now is in care in the UK. Poor kid must be at risk of becoming an offender.

It's a disgrace that he can't be cared for here.

Ask to be let into the Children's or Family court sometime

Watch the haughty manner in which the State tries to avoid becoming responsible for vulnerable children

Once ...a judge had the temerity to try to summons Mary Harney ....the then Minister for Health ....the ferocity of the response...top silks etc ...was the equivalent of Special Forces being set loose on the judge

Senior managers in the HSE, Department of Health and DSP ...know exactly what responsibility they are shirking

Even watch in the District Court - when a recidivist drug addict...gets a suspended sentence...in order that they can "care" for their child

Mick Noonan and Grace.

We only like abuse victims we can us as political footballs.

The same Enda who had a photo OP with an alleged abuse victim on the plinth of the Dail cut "women's aid" funding and over saw child line cut back it's service for want of funding.

Then there's Mick, sher Grace had no leverage....

Well done Ireland.

Also the Department of Education was the last bastion of McQuadian depravity in Ireland

Ayotallah Woods did his damnedest to infest it with Christian evil ... it took until Ruairi Quinn to partly exorcise it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minister_for_Education_and_Skills

However...my guess is...that the majority of PO and above there are today whacking off to the court report of the "wicked boy" tempting his father into carnal relations

Absolute nonsense it catered to all clerical sexual deviants!

They had a nice line in selling off some of the results of these "unnatural unions", to good Catholic families.

And then spent decades lying about it to those adopted, as Jesus did in the book of shut yer mouth ye whore.

Has there been any comment from TUSLA or the minister? Not only are we failing in our duty to protect children who are at risk of abuse, we also don't have the ability to provide them with "specialised care"!

The case is appalling - my concern is with just how it came to be

Given the depravity cataloged being much higher than the usual such depravity ... it is not surprising that the child has to undergo care in a much larger state ...thankfully...Ireland fuks up few as badly as him

Though if Harney/Woods were back in control ...maybe we'd need such specialist care

We don't even know that though. There seems to be more coming out from under the woodpile every month. I get the feeling we don't know the half of it yet.

Cant we do both?
We could have done. We had more than 30 years to make a start, come to that, but somehow it didn't seem important enough to many people to do very much. Until the repeal movement started gathering strength.

How it came to be is from a gross failure in child welfare and protection....and the necessity to ship vulnerable children off to the UK for "specialised care"....is more evidence of the same.

Why has a country that calls itself independent (and refused to join NATO supposedly for that reason) chosen to offload so much of its healthcare onto our nearest neighbours? Do they want to do our dirty work for us? Has anyone asked them?

14 years is far too short a sentence, this scumbag should have gotten at least 25 years.

Certain people have questions to ask as to how this pervert was allowed to continue to sexually abuse his son.
