Nessa Childers resigns from the Parliamentary Labour Party - joining Labour members in opposition » Latest News » Nessa Childers MEP - a strong voice for Leinster

“The party leadership’s strategy of attacking people who are loyal to the party’s stated policies; coupled with their objection to a special party conference and objection to renegotiating the Programme for Government signals that they is completely cut off from the concerns of the party members and Labour party ideals and values.
Gilmore's departure just got that bit closer !

Not too surprised about this. She's been making noises for some time now.

she is not leaving Labour - just the PLP

the Shortall/Keaveney gang just got itself another recruit
What is that now, six in the gang now. Before long they'll be in double digits. They could think about a break away nua Labour party.

Good move, to have ANY chance of re-election she needs to avoid the yoke of the Labour Party logo against her name.

Has been coming with ages. She joins TDs Patrick Nulty, Colm Keaveney, Róisin Shortall and Tommy Broughan on the outside looking in. I think at this stage it's a case of who's next? John Whelan perhaps?

Could we be heading back to a repeat of the late 1940's and see the formation of the "National Labour Party"?

whjat on earth makes nessa cvhilders think labour have a mandate to re neogtiate the proghramme for government? the last by election FG own it...Lbaour got trounced, that indicates the public prefer FG's imput to Lbaour's, the opinuiion polls indicate the same.

Childers is aware that there may not be enough labour votes to hold her MEP seat-and rather than do any real work to develop it, she resigns to generate publciity in the hope this will create a 'personal vote'....

She'll soon have had more parties than Zsa Zsa Gabor has had husbands.

What could happen in the next seventy two hours could save the Labour Party but it will involve the utter destruction of the Stickies element in Irish politics. But even scarier, most people will not see one possibility coming and that will change Irish politics forever. :)

Is there a bunker and tin foil involved with this mysterious event?
