RIP Chuck Berry

Well one of the originals has taken his guitar to that great gig in the sky. A great performer and one of the true rock and roll pioneers!

The 1950s thru to the 1990s were the strange decades...

There's never going to be the kind of 'fame' that existed in those decades again...

They were the 'odd' times... not the normal times...

They were a unique culmination of all sorts of times and things and trends...

It's not going to happen again...

Channels have become too numerous and trends too diluted... primarily as a result of the internet...

We were lucky (or not) to have lived through some or all of the 1950s-1990s period...

The last identifiable decade was the 1980s or at a push... the 1990s...

Bye bye Chuck.

Good post, but you have to get more rigorous. Rots would allow the 80s by the skin of its teeth..90s no chance and the 50s from 1955 0nwards only...;)

I'm far more of a Bo Diddley man myself, but even Bo reckoned Chuck was the Boss.

Definitely RIP, but he had a great run - or duckwalk, as the case may be.

Goodbye Johnny B. Goode.

His mother told him "Someday you will be a man,
And you will be the leader of a big old band.
Many people coming from miles around
To hear you play your music when the sun go down
Maybe someday your name will be in lights
Saying Johnny B. Goode tonight."
Go go go Johnny go

So many great songs. 'I'll have some fun tonight' dancing to his music ;-)

RIP
