It's a trade union commie-fest. I predict a stunning 'tax the rich' conclusion.

I'd say it will be about as productive as that sillyfest that was held in Farmleigh some time ago to come up with "new ideas."

Put a thousand people in one room, and you just get the tower of Babel.
Democracy can be such a burden. Probably explains why communism has never bothered with it. ;)

Claiming Our Future Event – October 30th 2010
The event is now completely booked out. Booking is now closed.
Live streaming on the day also a live twitter feed, with #cof3010.

Ireland is at a critical moment. You can help turn this crisis into a positive turning point.

Claiming our Future is a unique event. It offers a chance for people, trade unions, community organisations, environmental groups, business groups and other civil society organisations to not just talk about a better way – but to take new inspiring steps. It aims to foster a unity across civil society and to power a progressive movement to reshape Ireland’s recovery and claim our social values.

Claiming our Future will launch and mould that movement for an equal, sustainable and thriving Ireland. Already, individuals, communities and progressive groups from every corner of Ireland have begun to get involved.

It’s time to turn the despair and frustration into positive and decisive action for real change.

Some of the groundbreaking ideas from the COF Ideas website:

Ideas for Claiming our Future

"Outlaw Political Parties"

"Create an Eco-Economic Co-Creative 21st Century System 4 Sustainable Optimisation" (Answers on a postcard, please)

"call a massive protest following on from this event"

And of course, the answer to all our problems:

"Reduce the wages of TD's"

If you're a nutjob, you must attend this event.

Is this where all the left wing socialists get together and tell themselves how everybody is entitled to this and that and no responsibilty is required. If we had a little less "rights" and a bit more responsibility in this country we wouldn't be in the mess we are in.

Yes, and they'd also like to work less.

Yes, but who needs to learn a bit of responsibility? Is it not the landowners, bankers and the politicians that they have bought?

I am sure every equality, disability, traveller, immigrant, prisoner support group and pinko leftie 'why can't we all get along together' think tank will be represented. It will be a contest as to who is the 'most vulnerable' and a 'do not take my €200k salary as the head of my quango in the budget' moan fest.

Self flagulation instruction lessons will be made available free on the day.

Odd how Outlawing Political Parties is there when I reckon Crowley's agenda is to set up a political party encompassing these groups with himself at its head. He sees a gap in the non violent non Shinner radical left. There is a gap there alright.

Its hardly likely to be more pointless than the moan fests that come out of the ESRI, IBEC or any of the other right wing pressure groups.

FF*cking Quangoites, ex-Quangoites, Union parasites and the rest of the Politically Correct to tell us, the Irish people, how they will spend our money. Of course these FF*ckers don't actually generate anything useful and are probably partially responsible for Global Warming and the Greenhouse Gas problem.

Let's see what astroturf initiatives there have been recently:
Farmleigh.
The Ideas Campaign.
Your Country Your Call.

And if you scrape the scab of their sense of entitlement you will probably find that there are many parasites on the public purse (not the Public Service) involved here too.

Yeah and it has f*cking Quangoites, ex-Quangoites, Union parasites and the rest of the Politically Correct to tell us, the Irish people, how they will spend our money. There seems to have been a contagious outbreak of such types babbling on the airwaves and whiningly opining in print of late. They are all united by the liberal use of a singular phrase when prefacing whatever point of view happens to have their current favour. The words "We need to.." are fast becoming the hallmark catchcry of a host of self centred spoofers, these days.
The ever expanding commentariat are taking over the asylum.

Incorrect. The "united front" doctrine means that they will decide that they should all protect their salaries - in fairness, closer to €100k, but still ridiculously high - and make the rest of us pay for it. Because otherwise we're raaaaaaaacists.

It equally applies to them, from top to bottom in this country there is an out of control entitlement culture, from first class flights for bigwigs down to rent allowance for everyone with a makeyuppy hard luck story.

Ah lads, just because you can't get a gathering of 1,000 people together there's no need to be so sore about it ;)
