"I am coming to terms with that at the moment."

At times like this the need for a referendum to remove Art. 40.2.1 is blindingly obvious.
How would you update it?, "The State recognises the role of single women over 40 to....

A lot of these best-loved slebs in Ireland are on about €50K in private sector broadcasting. Vincenzo Browne said he got €54K for his night show. Just because they're famous doesn't mean some anonymous IT middle manager can't comfortably gazump them any time.

Of course, over at Pravda salaries are a bit different.

Its not a great career in fairness unless you can leverage off another career you have had. Too many wannabees willing to work for peanuts. Also there are cheap apartments in West Dublin so she can cry me a river, what she is saying is she cant afford to buy a trendy pad in D4 or D6 so she can keep up with the luvvies .

In the old days, people saved to buy a home, they didn't stick half their wages up their noses :)

In the "old" days people didn't have to pay 50% of their disposable income on rent either.
Most people stayed at home until they needed to leave, people with mortgages paid 15% interest, people who moved to Dublin rented kips in Rathmines and Rathgar. People had problems, they were just different.

True. Many of them have columns in the papers or mags. That brings in a few K. Then there's panel show appearances - 200 a pop or so. With maybe some advertising depending on your sector you could pocket another 5K a year etc.

But if she'd settled down with a moderate-good earner and had a couple of kids way back when and lived modestly and got a deposit down during the crash she'd be fine now. Maybe not D6 but fine.

Instead, women have been encouraged by the media she's part of to live the single life for way too long and consume loads of ephemeral luxuries. It's sad for her. She's looking at a bedsit (oops, sorry, now illegal) studio apartment on her own with her cats into her old age.

media career is for very few people(€100k+) , the vast majority will have to do numerous jobs in media to make a decent living (€60K a year)

I remember one of these soft media writers saying that her husband was her pension plan.

They're modern tenements. If the housing issue isn't solved within a few years we'll have Hong Kong esque cage homes being built and rented out.
with these shoe boxes co-slumming compartments , we have passed out HK and have taken it another step towards Lego boxed living "slums" but our Homeless Minister our "Kofi Annan Smurfy " will call it a something Exotic Buzzword supplied by his Politico PR Handler on €150K per annum at the taxpayer's expense/

It's quite bizarre how we have at least two ministers who have been appalling in their roles, but seem to be 100% bullet proof because FG are basically just interested in being in government for the sake of being in government.

Murphy and Harris leave a wake of scandal after scandal, but given Varadkar has no real moral authority over them - no one could accuse him of leading by example - they're all left in a job they are completely incapable of doing....except, of course, for the fact that they're doing EXACTLY what FG want - Murphy has driven property process past Celtic Tiger values, despite the fact that many are still earning less than they were 10 years ago.
